Don Shula would 'love' for Panthers to match '72 Dolphins' perfect record - CBSSports.com

Why would he do that? His son Mike is offensive coordinator.

"Family, Michael... never forget the family."

I would LOVE to face an undefeated Carolina in the Super Bowl and kick their ***es.

How old is Shula? His periods of lucidity must now be far n few between

He would love to be able to say "See? The only way to go undefeated is with a Shula on your team."

Guys cooked. I hope him and Morris are still with it enough in February to understand what the Patriots have done.

I think he also "doesn't" want he Pats to do it, because the Pats have been so dominant. He would like a less successful team to do it just to spite us. He is jealous of the Pats. I really believe that. The guy is a turd.

I have always hoped for the champagne celebration to happen on the field after 2007.

Wouldn't mind at all if it happened 8 years late.

It's pretty amazing, he was a middle-aged guy when he was coaching the Colts, and that was over 50 years ago

Time to get the drug addled Mercury Morris out of retirement to spew his hate..

He is the self-appointed blowhard for the '72 "perfect season" Miami Dolphins...

not sure if I see anyone on their schedule that would trip them up. Maybe @ New Orleans in a few weeks. other than that, they should win all their regular season games.

Shula isn't worth the energy. The game passed him by in the 1980's. He did a great job with the early 1970's Dolphins and getting that one team to the Super Bowl with Woodley and Strock. Although we Pats fans know very well how easy the 1972 team had things, you can't take away the fact that they beat everyone on their schedule and that puts them in a unique place. I will never think of that team as one of the best I ever saw, for me there are a dozen teams that were much better including a certain team that came within a helmet catch or Assante Samuel "oops" of perfection, but my personal bias aside, you must give that 1972 team its due as one of the best ever. His teams won on a very consistent basis and he is to be respected for that, but he has spent more than 50 years being told he was God's gift to football and it warped him. He believes he belongs on the "Mount Rushmore" of NFL coaches because of the number of wins, but in truth he probably isn't even in the all-time top 10. Noone knows it better than old Don and it aggravates him to no end. If the Shula family tradition in NFL coaching was so important, than one should ask why both Mike and David aren't running a team, especially when a Jack Del Rio is on his 3rd gig. What a joke.
