Patriots' Ebner found peace, strength after father's murder

From the prologue:

[Ebner] agreed to give me time now before he took a salt bath and left for the night. I didn’t want to keep him. But I wanted to give him the chance to speak about his father if he wanted to. I figured he might not.

In preparing my questions, I'd learned what happened to his father. And realized it was Jeff that introduced Nate to rugby. And that they were inseparable. And wondered how in God’s name that impacts a kid.

Wow. That makes a heartbreaking pairing with the video on Edelman and his dad.

Awesome story and one of Curran's best efforts. It is easy to wonder the how and why Ebner has lasted this long on the Pats. I'd like to think that eventually he'll get a chance to plays some significant snaps at S, but even if he doesn't and winds up a career special teamer, his making the NFL after only 2 years of football is an amazing accomplishment. His dad would be very proud.

Such a powerful story.

It's been a while but thank you Curran for reminding us what Journalists used to be. To Nate Ebner, I can't truly describe in words how much respect I have for your strength.

This is a great article -- it's revealing and respectful at the same time. Thank you, Tom Curran!

Wont be surprised this is one of the reasons BB has kept him. Belichick does stuff like this which goes unnoticed.
