I live in CA, I was just curious what cable provider would be the best for me being on the west coast. What I plan on getting if the price is fair is NFL sunday ticket, I was also thinkin if any of the packages would show like any local Boston sports media channels that coverd the Patriots, any insight would be great...

If you want NFL Sunday Ticket you have to get Direct TV. They have a contract with the NFL for exclusive rights.

Re: (OT): what satelite system is best?

I live in NY, outside the NE viewing area, so I have Direct TV with the Sunday Ticket. In fact it's the ONLY system that has it, so I didn't even look at any others. I get to see EVERY PATRIOT GAME. Through in the DVR service so I game replay and reenjoy each game.

Hell ya. Price really wasn't a consideration and still isn't

A few things. Because of the contracts that the NFL and MLB have signed AND because of FCC regulations, you are extremely limited in what you can get.

If you want to watch The Patriots games that aren't nationally televised, then you have to get DirecTV and its NFL Sunday Ticket.

If you want to watch the Red Sox, you also will have to purchase MLB Extra Innings package as they black out NESN outside of the New England area during games.

The same would apply to watching Celtics and Bruins games, if you are into that.

Sunday Ticket is like $279 and then another $99 for the HD version.

na the only thing I want is the Patriots games I hate having to go to the local sports bar cause its filled with a bunch of Raider fans.

Re: (OT): what satelite system is best?

I need to correct myself. If you sign up by July 31st, you can get NFL Sunday Ticket for $249. I am actually on the phone now to find out about the HD. It might be included this year.

Will Do..

BTW, if you let me refer you, we both get $50 in credits toward our bill...

OK, the Superfan package, which includes the HD is another $99.

So, it would be $349, but you can break it up into 5 payments. The 1st 3 would be $82.80 and the last two would be $49.80.

Not sure how much you spent going to the bar, but I was spending $40-$50 a Sunday for the games. So I figured that to be between $640 and $800. So, the $349 plus the maybe 200 in beer and food was more than worth it.

Maybe that is true with DISH, but I've had Directv for 2 years and I've never had a problem, my neighbors cable has gone out several times but it was all good at my house
I would never go back to cable.

Staying with cable is the worst thing you can do. And DISH Network is why you had the issues.

DirecTV is the way you want to go if you want to be able to follow the Pats all the time.

same here - DirecTv since 1993 and the picture is way better than my friends with Cable. When I was buying my HD Plasma, the HD TV guys all said that DirecTv HD was as good as it gets. If you've ever seen Discovery Channel HD and some of their shows, the picture quality is stunning.

My parents were with Cable TV for some 15 years. They switched to DirecTV almost IMMEDIATELY after it came out about 10 years ago. They lost their DirecTV feed 5 or 6 times in 10 years living in Southeastern NH. The were losing their feed with cable that many times in a YEAR.

They have never looked back. In fact, DirecTV upgraded all their equipment and stuff when they moved out to Cali just a couple months ago. Especially after they realized that my parents had been with them for 10 years...

Re: (OT): what satelite system is best?

Directv HD with DVR is pretty much the greatest thing since sliced bread. This is from someone currently stuck with Comcrap Digital with an inability to get a dish...

Man I am stuck with Crapcast too, oh how i wish my apartment was facing the south skies!!
