If Andrews continues to play well at center, Is it possible that once Stork comes back from IR he moves to on of the Guard Positions,

Maybe have 3-4 first/second years players, that seems like it would be the youngest line in football.

Pretty crazy to think how young this team is, and yet is still SO good. Gotta feel bad for teams like the Jags, so many top round picks, but nothing to really show for it.

Unless Mason or Andrews make large leaps in the next 8 weeks, I think our ideal OL (with the players currently on the roster) is Solder-Wendell-Stork-Jackson-Vollmer. That leaves Kline, Mason, and Andrews as potential backups in the interior, which is not bad depth at all, at least in potential.

We will know a lot more in 8 weeks when Stork is ready. All 4(Andrews, Mason, Jackson, and Kline) looked good last week.

I assume some separation will occur in the coming weeks and it will be clearer who the 5 best are.

There's a loose Cannon on the OL...

I think Wendell is the C as soon as he can play, then moves to G when Stork is healthy. Jackson and Mason will be playing for the job as the 3rd interior OL starter over the next 6 weeks.

I don't know if you're giving up very much with Andrews at C instead of Wendell. Rookie looked like he belonged against Pittsburgh. I wouldn't be all that surprised to see Wendell come back and squeeze Kline to the bench instead of Andrews.

I'd still rather have signed Evan Mathis, or at least drafted La'ell Collins with one of our 7th-rounders.

If it weren't for the whole Deveycle last season, I'd have complete faith that DeGuglielmo et al. know what they're doing.

I'm still largely convinced they do, of course, but that was hide-the-children bad.

Wendell has one of the worst snap tells in the league. He is much better at guard than he is at center.

Anyone know why we didn't make a play for La'ell Collins once his rap sheet cleared up!? Risk management? I was wondering too. That said, I have solid faith in the Patriots staff when it comes to drafting & developing O line.

Might want to pump the brakes on Andrews a bit, he played very well vs Pittsburgh but I have a feeling that line is in for a bad game vs Buffalo. Didn't Andrews struggle pretty bad in the preseason? Or the O-line in general at least.

I am holding off judgement for now. But i see why they kept Andrews. He does have a little something going on.

I feel like they do have pretty good depth in the interior but I hope that they have the top talent too. I don't think Wendell takes Andrew's spot though. He takes either Kline's or Jackson. Mason hopefully works in later.

I like the depth here but will feel better when Stork is back. On a side note I know the coaches like Cannon but i really don't like our backup tackle situation nearly as much as our interior.

Anecdotally, I remember the line struggling consistently with run blocking throughout the preseason, but really only had one consistently bad pass blocking day (the first game against Green Bay). Of course, preseason games often involve very vanilla defensive schemes, and the hardest thing for a young OL to learn (I imagine) is communication and picking up the rush when you don't know where it might be coming from. Unfortunately, that's exactly what Rex Ryan is good at disguising. Sunday is a big test for the yoots.

Consider that the Patriots are adding versatility to their lineup (i.e. via players at new position and new players), whilst they continue to win. In my opinion, this is exactly how the New England teams from the past built their SB winners. After 10 games, they will have options and/or be effectively plugging lineup holes left by injuries. Most teams simply play to a certain level or never recover. Every time a new player consistently learns to do their job, the team wins. Every time the players stay healthy- particularly in December/January -the team wins. Ergo, these new(er) guys who make their plays on game day and the ones who are getting/staying well (physicaly) are very, very important for a Super Bowl run. Adding their contributions puts the team over-the-top.

Pats were interested but he wanted to go to Dallas.

If it weren't for the whole Deveycle last season,

Devey actually looked pretty ok in the 49ers blocking scheme Monday. Could see why Scar and BB liked him, thing is he just didn't pan out for what the Pats do blocking wise. He even pancaked Shariff Floyd once or twice.

Every team with a responsible GM showed interest in him, and that of course includes a report specifically stating that the Patriots had reached out. He decided that being part of a top OL was the most important thing to him, which is how he ended up on a team where he'll never play left tackle and isn't starting at all right now.

As for the draft, his agent made it clear that if he was drafted late then he would sit out and re-enter in 2016. Some posters have decided to continue to ignore that and throw a fit anyway.

While McLendon isn't as good as Dareus, he's pretty damn good. One of the better NTs in the league.

Andrews was fine during preseason.
