Indy makes Super pitch

As NFL owners prepare to pick the host city for the 2011 Super Bowl, city leaders in Indianapolis said they are confident they have lined up the amenities and funds necessary to make a strong pitch for the championship game.

Deputy Mayor Steve Campbell said the city’s bid committee will be able to raise $20 million to $25 million before next week’s owners’ meeting in Nashville

the nfl promises cities the super bowl in exchange for new staduims, houston, detroit, are examples, bet on it its a dome

Arlington is getting a new billion dollar stadium for the Cowboys in 2009. It will also have a retractable roof. I wouldn't be surprised to see the owners favor Indy over Jerry Jones though. The other stadium in the running is Arizona's. However by the time 2011 rolls along, Arizona will have already hosted a SB (this upcoming season's SB).

Just think how good it will be to make the locals watch the pats win it in their building

Indy could be a very weak rebuilding team by 2011. In fact so could the Pats.

2008 is Glendale, AZ

where is 2009 & 2010 gonna be? I assume that's already determined if they are bidding for '11

OT: does " '11" look weird? Will we have to reference the year with 4 digits from 2010 until 2020?

?

2009 SB - Tampa Bay (NBC)
2010 SB - Miami (CBS)

Well, I bet Indy gets one sooner or later. Dallas is also going to be in the running for one too with that behemoth of a stadium they are building down there. Expandable to 100,000 seats if necessary.

EDIT: There are two "old favorites" of the NFL that will probably never see another Super Bowl unless and until they build new stadiums: Qualcomm (San Diego) and the Superdome (New Orleans). So places like Indy, Dallas, Arizona, Miami and Tampa will all have good chances... I wouldn't be all that surprised if they went back to Detroit or Houston sooner or later...

I think it's gunna happen. Although, available hotels is already a problem for ME. Nevermind a million folks.

it interests me that in that chart they say Kraft is about making money first so that would align him with Dallas. What does that mean when it comes to favoring Indy or Dallas? If they said that he likes Jones that's one thing but the money part I don't get. Is there more to the article?

It's a shame that the SB doesn't go into a rotation amongst all of the stadiums, cold weather be damned. The fact that Lambeau will never host another one is a crock.

Did it ever host a Supr Bowl?? I thought the first one was held in LA....and the second one in LA....

No offense to Indiana, which was a very friendly place to visit, but the Super Bowl should be in America's premiere cities. It's not just a one day thing, it's a week long extravaganza. All the Florida locations were great, New Orleans likewise. Houston was unimpressive, IMO, but had some stuff to do. I just could not imagine spending that much time in Indianapolis. It's just not an entertaining city to be in.
