You had me until that last line. He got a story wrong. He's not Aaron Hernandez. Perspective man.

What he did may or may not have been first degree murder, but it's close to being journalistic homicide. Doing a sloppy job in a hit piece is as close to plagiarism as you can get. I just don't feel he has paid enough professionally to forgive.

I know were supposed to hate him here because of the taping flap with regards to taping a Ram walkthrough before SB 36 that Matt Walsh erroneously fed him fake info to and later retracted. Tomase publicly retracted his story but will always have that villian-like Dan Shaughnessy attatchment labeled to him. I get that.

With that being said I think his latest article is spot on and so I'll throw it out their to share. The kid pissed me off many years ago by being an overly-ambitious irresponsible immature $h!the@d but I'm not the type to never forgive. He put out a front page retraction and apologized almost a decade ago. As with the hate many here I believe have misdirected over time he's done nothing in the last 9 years to inspire that. Fire your hatred at those that deserve it right now in this moment.

Locally Gary Tanguay, Dan Shaughnessy, Felger and Mazz can all suck my balls. On a national scale Ryan Clark, Chris Carter, Mark Brunell, Jerome Bettis and ESPN can all suck it too..

As for the criminal gangster enterprise that currently occupies 345 Park Ave. in Manhatten, it's time to hire some Untouchables.

That being said I'll share Tomase' latest article. I think it was deftly composed:

This writer did permanent and irreparable damage to the New England Patriots by violating a canon of journalism - - you must always get TWO confirmed sources before reporting.

In his haste to make a name for himself, he violated that and timed his story to the eve of a Super Bowl.

For that violation he got.........to keep his job in the same market.

No way. He does not deserve my or anyone's attention.

There are plenty of other journalists out there (many of them highly regarded national journalists) who are writing in favor of Brady in this case.

Wow, that's a jump to Hernandez right there.

No one is saying he deserves life in prison. But he CERTAINLY should have lost his job for that (at least in THIS market). Nothing happened, though. He kept his job at the Herald with no fines, suspensions or consequences whatsoever.

You DO understand that he KNOWINGLY (not getting a second confirmed source) committed malpractice on one of the biggest stages and moments in sports history. This was not an "oops". This was a journalist who knew better than to go with only one source on a story so incendiary.

A doctor or financial advisor who does such a thing does NOT get to keep his/her job in the same market with no penalties whatsoever.

I think you are missing the point.

He didn't just get any story wrong though. This was a huge story discrediting their first Super Bowl win and would discredit all their success as CameraPlacementGate had occurred that season. He knew the impact this would have and he released it the day before the Patriots were trying to finish an undefeated season which brought it so much more attention. It took away so much enjoyment from Patriots fans and gave so much more fuel to the haters. As a result, people nearly ten years later say the Patriots always cheat because you can never completely unwind a story like that. Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk are still citing his false story and people believe it.

The reason he did not vet his story before running with it was so that he could print it on the eve of the Superbowl. That is as irresponsible of an act as a journalist can make. It was not just an innocent mistake, it was about bringing attention to himself at the risk of ruining the reputation of many. And it has undeservedly hurt reputations and still is. He knew better. That's unforgivable for his profession.[mingham or something, right?/QUOTE]
Appreciate the response. I don't think he had any idea how bad this would blow up or the long-term ramifications and impact it would have. What young writer would run with a falsely based story that would basically make him reviled and villified in his hometown for over a decade? He's from Framingham or something IIRC.

I hate Warner and Faulk and their ignorance and Goodell more then I'll ever hate Tomase. This is the biggest problem I have with everyone on this board. Everyone wants to point the finger in a thousand different directions.

Point your your finger in the one direction it deserves to be pointed. Right inthe direction of this guy:

Maybe not. Kessler seems to think that it's about the "law of the shop" (vs. Article 46) and Berman seems to think it's about knocking heads together to get to a compromise. I'm worried that Kessler gave up on discovery.

"Giving up on discovery" was the only way there was even a shot of getting this done before the season started. Also, while I haven't gone back and re-read the NFLPA's original brief and the 15 page memorandum of law, I'm pretty sure there was stuff in it about fairness & nonbias and the lack thereof in the arbitration.

The point is the bad guy is Roger Goodell. He loves the mis-direction though.

It's all Tomase and everyone else's fault. This guy had nothing to do with it:

Of course he knew how much the story would blow up. That's why he ran with it before he was able to fully vet it, so that he could publish it the day before the Super Bowl bringing as much attention to it as possible. It was completely irresponsible and selfish.

Just curious how many here boycott the Boston Herald because of Spygate? If Tomase is "persona non grata", then the Boston Herald should be "giornali not grata" (the unwelcome newspaper)...shouldn't it? Every day at every newspaper, it is up to the editors to decide what runs in their newspapers and I would bet a few hundred lira that the Top Dogs at the Herald and their lawyers had final say whether to print the initial Spygate story.
So, I'm curious why the Herald gets a pass (admit it...we all still read Boston's #2 paper) but Tomase sleeps with the fishes. Partners in crime, but only one still doing time.
My answer: I'm a hypocrite....and truth be told the Herald is my 3rd look in the morning (because it is free unlike the Globe) behind PatsFans and Reiss (I'm hypocrite again because I love Reiss but hate ESPN with ferocity and go out of my way to avoid the mother-ship of self-perpetuated drama)

I still don't understand how that fat blob of **** hasn't been run out of Boston yet.

Sure. But put me in the camp that thinks taking down Goodell and the League Office is worth giving up 4 games. (I've posted a longer post on this in the McCann thread.)

Tomase is just a scientifically illiterate piece of crap that is making a living off of writing contrarian articles. These type guys write with a reckless regard for the truth, peoples reputations and legacies. He is simply a Felger wannabe without the wit.

It is not just his walk through article that has earned him his reputation or the hatred, rather it is numerous other junk articles that followed.

Is the article you linked any good? Is it factual? Who knows?

Tomase is the guy who has been killing Brady for being a liar and a cheat for the last three months. Screw him.
Show me some articles and lend credence to it. I may have missed them. Last I knew he was a Sox beat guy.

I've been bouncing around between homes. I've been wrong before. I can take it. I thought his article was good so I put it out there. Today is a big one and it had a Brady-positive spin on it, so I said to hell with it and threw it out there knowing the backlash that would come with it.

I could give a christ less if I get negative rating points. I read an article that made sense and put it out there on my favorite site because I'm a die-hard PatsFan. Period

I make no apologies for that.

I need to revisit the trophy room again sometime soon. My avatar is out-of-date.

One can make the argument that Brady's punishment is a result of the whole walkthrough stuff Tomase put out there. That story came out long after the Spygate punishments, and it's pretty clear that everyone in the league thinks it's true.

This 'it' is a piece of s**t, and always will be a piece of s**t. You know, if it feels like it, smells like it, and looks like it, you don't have to taste it, which is what you are doing when you read 'it;s' drivel.

One source would have sufficed.... IF said source actually had a copy of the video.

So that one very hypothetical "if" point sufficed for you to give me a 'Disagree" on the post?
