Pats will not pick up Revis option this year

There's not really much reason to say this unless somebody wants it to be out there. Now we wait and figure out who and why.

What are you referring to?

Revis is the key to the defense. He makes everything else work. They have to bring him back, they could have easily lived without McCourty, Browner can only handle certain receivers. He is great when he has a Revis or a Sherman on the other side. Seattle (now that they have lost Maxwell) will certainly overpay for him. The Pats should just pay him his contract, because he is not going to come cheaper.

But the very real situation exists that next year you will have a secondary of Arrington, McCourty, Chung, and Dennard. Even Geno can kill that secondary!

No, there's no such possibility. If Revis left, Browner's definitely not going anywhere. As it stands, the Browner report is largely about them wanting to extend him and change the parameters of his deal rather than release him.

Huh? How does this help the Pats? I would think that would be better for Revis.

For those who feel that Revis would have been angered by the Patriots picking up his option it is a move of goodwill toward Revis.

Pats probably found out that revis was using year 2 as a basis for negotiation with other teams.

Patriots free agency:

it starts by cutting Wilfork, then not tagging DMac

Then the revis option

Hate to say it but the reality is Revis knows this is his last chance to get a Mega Contract if he choses the going nowhere Jets he's all about the $$$$. That said I still would have come to terms with Revis before I considered McCourty. A Great CB is better than a good Safety anyday of the week. Is there any CB worth taking in the First?

A bidding war with the Jets.

We know how this turns out.

I think the Pats and Revised already have an agreement in principle Just my take.

Their hand i think was forced with mccourty as he called to say he was taking another offer
