League source: #Patriots will be in the wide receiver market later in the week. Mid-level guys. Not Maclin or Torrey Smith.

Charles robinson

Harvin, crabtree ?

Must have a very good idea that Amendola is gone at this point then. Will probably look for a contract that is no bigger than the cap space that will create.

Wayne/Hartline/Douglas/Britt are the guys I am looking at the most.

I wonder if amendola is refusing a pay cut. Or they just want to move on from him if cut

I love this, and it's pretty much what I envision my wishlist to be. The only change I'd make is Amendola/Hartline. For one, Hartline isn't a slot receiver, and the Patriots need a slot receiver. While Edelman is equally good in the slot or not, he's also prone to injury and needs a backup who can also contribute with starting snaps. Amendola provides that, Hartline would not. Rather than Hartline, I'd rather see an Eddie Royal or Stevie Johnson if we imagine Amendola is gone. In fact, I'd like to see Stevie Johnson period.

Pierre Thomas to replace (upgrade) Vereen is my personal favorite on this list. I love Pierre Thomas. And I'm getting more and more behind Gurley as times goes on - I watched a fair bit of him at Georgia because a friend of mine's an alum and I think he's a potential superstar. Plus, there's a lot of guys at the need positions of guard and defensive tackle in the 2nd and 3rd who aren't much different than the guys you'd get at 32.

I think I'd also switch out Ellis for either Randy Starks (if/when he's cut) or BJ Raji (depending on price), but I wouldn't be unhappy with Ellis either.

Supposedly? By whom?

The Pats are in pretty good shape for receivers. Including Gronk in the group, they had a very productive year. Biggest need is a back up on the outside. I certainly don't think the Pats are looking to sit LaFell or Edleman when healthy.

3rd down back is a much higher need. If Vereen leaves, I could see the Pats taking two bites at that apple: a free agent and a draft pick.
If they arent sure about what Dobson will do the targeting a guy who can be your 3 or 4 WR seems to make sense, especially if its for as cheap as Lafell was. Cecill Shorts is a guy I know they have liked in the past

REvis
Mccourty
Crabtree
Thomas

I think Crabtree will get good money from someone, it will be an overpay butt I dont think he will be cheap

I think he will be fine $$ wise. But they may go after Harvin..who knows...just don't waste the $$ on hartline

I figure that Tyms, Dobson, and a draft pick will be fighting it out for the 6th receiver spot behind Gronk, Edelman, LaFell, Amendola, and Wright.

If they want to bring a cuttable free agent receiver into camp, fine. The roles will sort themselves out. I don't see it as a major need.
