Mike doesn't usually get his facts wrong, but Cassel won't be a RFA ever since according to the Globe (whom Miguel references) he signed a 4 year deal when he was drafted in 2005. He's signed through his 4th season in 2008 (although I think he'll be agressively shopped after the 2007 season unless we can't find another developmental QB with solid upside who at least projects as a quality backup). But i do think we will be replacement backup QB shopping in the mid to late rounds and thereafter this year because we need to know where we stand heading into 2008.

Just to nit pick, but he failed to mention Welker as backup to Gostkowski (sp?).

Well, that's an emergency mid-game situation only. If Gostowski is out for an extended period of time Welker is not taking over as a full time kicker. They'd sign an acutal kicker even if Gostowski is going to be out one week.
