I call it the Torry Holt factor because I can so clearly remember him making several incredible plays against Syracuse and then the next day calling my buddy and saying, Watch out for this dude Holt, he's going to be a superstar.
Had the experience with Edgerrin James in the game against UCLA (or USC?) in Miami when he propelled them down the field for a key touchdown. I saw this quality in Ed Reed, Tomlinson, Freeney, too.

Some dudes are not so obvious - Seymour and Urlacher for example, I didn't see them coming. Some drafts just don't have anyone.

I'm nothing special when it comes to judging talent, it's just that some guys just have an "it" factor that is very plain to see. An unique combination of skill and mentality so obvious you can't ignore it. I'm talking HOF caliber or nearly so, here. There's never more than 1 or 2 per draft, maybe 3.

Do you see a true superstar in this year's draft? A guy you just know will be exceptional?

Me? I say, Brandon Meriweather.

i had the feeling for Portis..very underrated coming out

since u already took Meriweather, im gonna go and say Eric Wright. He'll be 1 of the best CBs when its all said and done

This is not a sleeper at all, but Adrian Peterson should have an immediate impact on whatever team is smart enough to draft him.

I agree that Merriweather is ready to make a rookie impact and will continue the push to draft him at #24.

I think as far as pass rushers go (there's always 2-3 a year that make an immediate impact) LaMarr Woodley is most game ready and could notch up 8-10 sacks as a rookie if placed with the right team.

Joe Thomas will be one of the NFL's best OLmen very soon.

Jordan Kent, WR of Oregon. I cheated and saw them talking about him on the NFL Network this morning, but he basically came out and decided to play football after a career of playing basketball and track during high school and college. His coach said that when he first entered camp, he didn't even know how to put the pads on. Last year (his first year ever playing football) he started and starred on the Ducks squad.

After one year of football, he's projected to go in the 6th round of the draft and could be a steal. I can see him being a monster in the future. He needs to bulk up (which he will), but he already has the speed and the hands to be successful at the professional level.

Merriweather? Joe Thomas? Reggie Nelson? These are all people guarunteed to make an impact in the NFL. Pick someone like Marques Colston or Tom Brady that could come from out of nowhere.

okayso no first rounders?

Gimme Marvin White. TCU Safety #26

He hits hard..covers well. Hes going to be a steal..hes a sleeper. Probably go round 4

If you read the original post, you'll see that isn't the point of the thread.

I know this, but it's easy to say all the first rounders. Go for a stretch and see what happens. Nobody is going to call you out six months later if your pick is a bust. It's for your own personal entertainment. Remix got it.

Isn't the thread titled the Torry Holt factor? Torry Holt was not a Tom Brady or Marques Colston who came out of nowhere. He was the 6th pick in the draft.

I didn't say Torry Holt came out of nowhere. All I'm saying is that just naming all of the first rounders who could (and ultimately WILL) make a splash is a waste of time and does nothing but add to your post count. Joe Schmo who knows nothing about football could do this with ease as long as he read Kiper's picks to go in the first round. All I'm trying to do is make it fun but you draftnik nerds can handle that I guess.

LaMarr Woodley.

Call me crazy...

Dwayne Jarrett.

stud - Calvin Johnson

dark horse - Chris Henry, RB, Arizona

Aaron Rouse - Depending on the team, will have a better career than Meriweather.

Anthony Spencer - A flat out stud and if used in a 3-4 will be a game changer.

I don't see it. Coaches kid. Good athlete and smart, but unless he can play in the kicking game I think he'll merely be roster filler.
