Goes over Mccourty getting the INT seeing the same thing a 2nd time
Goes over Harmon INT and seeing it early
Goes over Amendola TD's with keys being the blocking of Lafell and the cut by Solder that forced Suggs to keep his hands down when Brady threw to Edelman

My wife alerted me to the Belichick Breakdown. Belichick is at his finest when he goes over the plays like that. I was a little disappointed that they didn't go over Ineligate, at least enough to get in a few parting shots at the Ravens.

Always a great video.

Notes on the double pass:
  • Due to a DB blitz, the Ravens had 2 guys total to devote to Edelman, Gronk, and Amendola. What actually happened was that the CB Melvin paused anticipating a run by Edelman and let Amendola blow right by him.
  • It was important that pass rusher Suggs not get his hands up in the throwing lane from Brady to Edelman. So Solder cut-blocked him, which Suggs spun off with his hands down and his back to Brady.
Notes on Gronk's long seam route:
  • The CB was in trouble, as Wright was beating his other defender and Gronk's other defender hadn't shown up yet. Had the CB covered Gronk more tightly, Wright would have been open for a likely TD.
  • Blount got quickly through the line to settle into a checkdown, influencing the LB to cover him rather than chase after Gronk's route.
Note on McCourty's INT:
  • The play was an exact mirror image of a successful Ravens play from the first drive.
  • McCourty ran around one receiver/DB pair to get to the point of the interception. Great play recognition.
  • Per BB, this is an example of why, when the fans call for a play that worked to be re-used repeatedly, they're wrong.

One little understated thing I noticed in that video: On the game clinching (well, almost) interception by Harmon, Duron was the lone deep safety. McCourty was left in single man press against a receiver, with no help on his side. Granted, it was against either the #3 WR or #2 TE (I couldn't see who it was), but in a crucial spot like that BB trusts Devin in tight man coverage (contrary to his perceived weaknesses).

Notes on Amendola's pylon-diving TD:
  • LaFell peeled off his first block (on the same hapless CB who got burned on Amendola's other TD) to pick off a guy coming across.
  • BB praised that to skies, emphasizing just how much he enjoys coaching LaFell, saying it's something few WRs would think of doing, etc.

That's been common for a while now. Against 5 wide I'd expect the CBs to be the starters, Arrington, Ryan and McCourty, with Harmon the deep safety and Wilson playing in the middle somewhere. In a straight dime I'd expect the same thing with one less CB on the field. Of course, among that many guys it's likely somebody is dinged up -- Browner in the Ravens game -- which can change things slightly.

Mccourty made the probowl as a corner........I' think quality is to be expected at that moment
