BB generally hates to hire someone from the outside to be a coordinator. This means either he promotes from within or we go without an official one this year most likely if he walks.
Assuming we do promote from within lets look at who is the most likely options. (Josh is also the QB Coach)
Dave DeGuglielmo - OL coach - Years on the Patriots - 1 - Total years of NFL experience - 10
Ivan Fears - RB Coach - Years on the Patriots - 18 - Total years of NFL experience - 24
Chad O'Shea - WR Coach - Years on the Patriots - 6 - Total years of NFL experience - 11
Brian Daboll - TE Coach - Years on the Patriots - ? - Total years of NFL expereince - 15
My guess is this.
You will want to keep Dave as the OL coach to keep some consistency there cause it is only his 1st year installing a new system. Fears is probably not going to do it either as after so long as a positional coach it tells me either he happy where he is and does not want the responsibility or BB does not think he is good enough for the job. Daboll was an offensive assistant coach and is currently in his first year as the TE coach. It would be unusual of BB to promote someone so fast.
This tells me it is probably O'Shea or no one. We have Lafell in his 2nd year Edelman in his 6th and Gronk going into his 5th. Most of our key players know the system and can work around a shake up in that area.
Edit: Also Daboll it was a former OC so he has those credentials as well.
