In an attempt to create a consensus list of Pats round one prospects, mass participation is necessary. For convenience, here's two sites to use as reference, if you prefer to use a different site, refer to the sticky on the main page.

List in any order all potential Pats prospects for our two first round picks. And of course, any pick can come from outside round one:

Mike Mayock's Top 64

NFLdraftscout Top 100

Assuming trade-ups and trade downs:

Revis (trade up)
Houston
Beason
Merriweather
Moss (although I don't want him)
Nelson
Ross
Timmons
Griffin
Spencer (assuming he can play OLB)
Harris (trade down)
Pos (I would not trade up for him)
Harrell
Woodley (possible small trade down from 28)
McCauley (trade down)
Wilson (trade down, even though he is no projecting higher than initially thought)
Weddle (trade down)
Piscatelli (trade down)
Hughes (trade down)

OL Staley is interesting also.

Revis
Meriweather late
that's it.

Beason too small not strong enough.
Poz, conflicting reports may be JAG
Spencer, can't play in space supposedly
WR no roster space
RB no thanks
OL 4 OT already plus Mankins
Ross heard reports that he 's too raw not aware in coverage

Why would you want a db from Univ. of Texas, nevermind two?

Why not? Am I missing something?

Did you catch any of their games this year? 90th in the country against the pass. This despite having 3 probable 1st day picks in Griffin, Ross, and Tarrell Brown. They assemble a lot of talent in the UTexas D Backfield and these guys test off the charts, but the bottom line is the DBs have to work as a team, with cohesion, and since Huff was drafted the rest of the cast seemed lost.
Griffin- Had a great career as a SS, but he's undersized there as a pro. Played FS his senior year, where you are the equivalent of a point guard. The results are listed above.
Aaron Ross- Nickle back & kick returner his 1st 3 years. Started as a Senior. Was definitely toasted by some 2x moves, and experienced recievers. Despite the measurables, I wonder if he is any more than a very good pro nickle back. Never was able to beat out anyone in front of him in Tx.
Tarrell Brown- might be the best of the three on the field. F in the charactor field.

So then, you don't like either of those guys?
That's what I'm hearing.

I just don't see them as good value in the first, it's not like it is a personal vendetta. I think most years that you would get a player like a Griffen & a Ross in the 2nd, and that ranking is mostly based on their athleticism.

I'm not smart enough to separate the #24 from #28 list but here's my list, excluding the ones who won't be there :

OL - Staley, Blalock (if we project him at Tackle)
WR - Meachem, Bowe
DL - Harrell
LB - Pozlusny, Beason, Timmons
