The Revis Contract

Noticed that when I was watching, never saw that fire from Revis before.

I think Revis loves it here. He loves winning and now that he has a taste of it here in NE...i think he stays. I also think BB and this coaching staff and Kraft knows what he does for this D. Exotic blitzes..more man all becasue of him.

If they let him walk it will be a huge bulnder IMO unless he will only take 15 mill a year+ from someone. But based on what i see and read...i think 12-14 a year could get it done for 3-4 years. If it doesn't i will be very VERY disappointing becasue that would mean our D will take a big step back next year. But if he really wants to win...he will be back. If he wants the $$...he will be gone. If they win the SB..i could see him leaving. But if they get close an fail..i think he's back at 13-14 a year for say 3 years

This video shows his fire and when i see/read about him him sitting in the locker room with ryan teaching him stuff ect...it's just awesome

What play was this after? The punt return for TD?

That's how Revis rolls, man. The guy is as fiery as Tom is on the defensive side of the ball. I just think he didn't want to come on too strong, arbitrarily, as a new comer to the team. When he was the Jets team captain he was a man possessed.

At :45 seconds in when he's getting the Jets pumped up, that was in 2010 against the Patriots after we destroyed them just 3 weeks earlier 45-3.

This is the Revis you can expect to emerge as a presence on the Patriots defense as he becomes more comfortable and earns more authority. Pretty intense and pretty motivated considering what we did to them in the regular season.

Revis is an animal, and as good as he's been, he's still `the new guy` here.

Just wait until he isn't anymore.

You seem to be implying that R

So, if Revis wants the $$ he'll be gone? What you are saying is that Kraft won't pay the market price for known top talent, and will only sign Revis if he'll take a discount to play for us. I simply don't believe that.

I agree that Revis might only want to play for a team with potential to go deep into the playoffs. So, sure a losing team would have to be above market to have any chance, and even then Revis would likely say no. However, I don't see Revis taking $10M less over 3 years from us instead of playing for $10M more from lots of playoff teams.

Of course, it's purely a guess/hunch. I think Revis likes it here and that the Pats will sign him to a top of the market extension. Probably similar to Richard Sherman's deal, but hopefully structured in a way that offers the Pats some protections reasonable for an older player.

I don't think the Pats will try to low-ball Revis.

How are we defining low-balling and overpaying?

Great work as usual, Miguel.

Citing you work as a barometer..

12.5M APY would make Revis the 4th highest paid cornerback
13M APY would make Revis the 4th highest paid cornerback
13.5M APY would tie Revis for 3rd
14M APY would tie Revis for 2nd
14.01M APY would tie Revis for 1st

IMO $11m APY is lowball and ~ >$15m APY is overpaying.

If Revis makes $14.01m in Year 1 that seems reasonable to me...$14m reasonable..LOL.

am I crazy to think that 12.5-13M APY is not that big of a prize to pay to solidify our secondary for the next couple of seasons ?

especially since the cap will rise anyway..

I hope Revis signs for 2 more years with Patriots. Then, we will have a CONSISTENT CB duo (Browner/Revis) for 2 yrs...

Maybe if Patriots win the SB with Revis, he can lower his $$ demands?

I don't see Revis taking less than 13m per year. 6/78 sounds about right?

I think he would play for 12 or maybe even 11 million per but the thing that may hold him back from re-signing is the pats may only want to do a one or two year deal and I think he will want at lest a 4 year deal lets say 4 years 45 million with close to 20 million of it guaranteed

He's a class act, works hard, tows the team line, and has elite skills. He's exactly the kind of player the Patriots are willing to pay. If he isn't here in 2015 and 2016 I'd be shocked.
