The 2014 Mock draft Thread.

Fede has great tape, albeit in limited quantities against poor competition; he has great size; he has excellent measurables. From limited reports he has a good motor and work ethic, and no obvious character concerns. He checks off enough boxes for me to warrant a 6th or 7th round selection.

He is a nice highlight film on him, he seems to be an interesting prospect, I like the ability to play inside and outside.

Do you have his Pro Day results?

I've actually been thinking that Shazier might be our first pick regardless of trading, assuming he is still available. I doubt he makes it past the Texans at 33.

I like Kony Ealy as a big DE that could be a starter at LDE and maybe turn Ninkovich into our situational pass rusher.

He looks a lot wider than Jones - Jones is very, very lean to the point of looking skinny.

Fede looks dominant at the level he played at - even drops into coverage a bit in those highlights posted, looks to be worth a pick. What I really like from those is when he can't get to the QB he gets his arms up.

Shazier doesn't seem like a great fit for a Romeo Crennel defense. I'd be fine with Shazier in a trade back and maybe even with a first pick. Would add real explosion and speed to our defense.

BB trades #29 to the Vikings for #40 and #96.

#40 - TE Amaro Texas Tech - Brady needs someone that can stretch the defense in the middle of the field and down the deep seams.
#62 - OT Mewhort Ohio State - Seems like Vollmer is hurt every year and Cannon makes me nervous at OT.
#93 - DT Jones Penn State - Beef for the middle of the defense. I think Wilfork stays, but Kelly is a injury waiting to happen.
#96 - Fiedorowizc Iowa - If the Pats think gronk can come back by week #9, then this could turn into CB/S Purifoy of Florida.
4th round - C Steen Alabama - love the way this way blocks in the trenches. Instant upgrade over Wendell.
6th round - WR Norwood Alabama - Can he excel at ST in the pros?
7th round - ILB/OLB Bullough Mich State - Replaces Fletcher.

I think you're right about Crennel. That's his mistake though, he might be even slower than BB at "adapting" to the new type of LB.

Have a look at Chandler Jones' and you get Fede's

From a testing point of view, the star of the show was not a player from the Buffalo roster rather a sleeper defensive end/outside linebacker prospect from Marist College. Terrence Fede, who was given a 7th-round grade by scouts entering the season, measured 6040/278lbs then ran in the mid-to-high 4.7s in the forty. I'm told during training Fede was running in the high 4.6s. His other marks included 25 reps on the bench, 9-11 in the broad, 4.4s short shuttle and a 7.02 three cone. Afterwards, I'm told Fede looked impressive in both linebacker and defensive end drills. Keep him on your radar.

NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Chandler Jones

As you can see, aside from the 40 where Jones is about a tenth slower, they are almost identical. I don't know what Fede's vertical is.

He's missed games in 3 of 10 seasons, including his rookie season in which he was likely just a healthy scratch a few times because he was an undrafted rookie.

I thought this was interesting, I have not hear Annen's name mentioned around here (unless I missed it).

Kay's tight end Blake Annen wowed scouts with his workout. Annen measured 6050/250lbs, posted 25 reps on the bench then ran his forty in the low 4.4's. Scouts on hand said Annen was a better player than Travis Kelce (3rd round pick in '13) and Adrien Robinson (4th round pick in '12) at times over the past three seasons. In the early going, the New England Patriots have shown interest in Annen.

Is Steen an OC?

Yup, sorry but you missed it. It was mentioned in the "contacts" thread.

Mayo, do you actually have a reliable source on Fede's height/weight/arm length? I've hunted and come up empty, and it's tough to get a sense of a player's size from game film at the Pioneer League level.

I'm pretty sure he's a Guard, but I think we can pick him up undrafted, he's got barely 31 inch arms so I think most GMs pass on him. I'd love to bring him into camp and let him fight for a position.

Fede was measured at Marist's Pro Day March 4, and the numbers that were reported are 6'4" 278#. I'm using those as "official" until I see otherwise. No arm length has been reported to the best of my knowledge.

Huh, I've looked hard and not found that pro day info! If those numbers are legit, that's awesome (and frankly a little surprising, I thought he might be shorter).

At that Pro Day was Marist edge rusher Terrence Fede, who tested with ideal measureables for a 4-3 defensive end at 6’4” and 278 pounds, with a mid-4.7’s 40-yard dash, according to. With 25 reps, a 9’11” broad jump, a 7.02 3-cone and a low 4.4’s in the shuttle, he could be a 7th-round pick.

Manx deserves all the credit for leading the Fede bandwagon. I'm just hopping on.

Gronk will be starting Week 1.

But Fiedorowicz should still be taken if he is there in the middle rounds, even if they pick Amaro, Seferian-Jenkins, or Niklas in the 1st or 2nd.

Gronk
Seferian-Jenkins/Niklas/Amaro
Fiedorowicz
Hoomanawanui

That's a TE corp that I would be more than fine with.
