CraY thought ....but if we offered the Bucs a third round pick for Revis and then later got an early third rounder from Houston we would essentially be trading Revised for Mallett.

BB knows what Houston is willing to pay and he might concede for a third rounder in light of this opportunity.

Autocorrect fail

Serious autocorrect pwnage in this thread.

What the hell am I doing in a Mallet for XYZ thread? Ugh.

I hear Revised was great in the three cone drill

Better yet, pick up Revis after he gets cut and get him for free anyways. And keep/trade Mallett if they offer anything of value(Least a 4th?).

I don't believe Belichick will pay any corner 10 million a year, and that includes Revised.

I disagree. If Revis were a free agent, I think that Belichick would be happy to sign him for $10M.

However, I don't think that Revis will play for $10M. Also, I don't think that patriots would give up a draft choice in order to sign Revis for over $10M.

I don't think he will take less than a second for Mallett. I would trade the third for Revis regardless though, the odds of a Revis type player being in the third round is under 1%.

The key thing to remember is that unless Revis is willing to renegotiate his salary downward, your choices are:

  • A third-rounder who is less talented than Revis, but costs less than $1M/year, or
  • Revis, and having almost no cap room for other moves

I agree with the first part.

The second part I am undecided, there is a part of me that believes Revis may want to actually play for a winning franchise for once in his career. I don't think he would play for half price but if he was in the top 5 CBs he may. Revis on a notable winning franchise like the Patriots would stand to make significantly more in endorsements.

Revis would have to play for about $9M a year if he wanted to play here. The question is does Revis want to be on a scrub team where his brand will suffer or does he want to play someplace where he can be seen as a winner. He is an amazing player the type of player that could easily make $20 million a year in endorsements but that is not going happen on the Bucs or Jags.

Does Revis come with a revised contract?

His contract would need to be revised. Currently he's worthless at his salary.

This thread is destined to become revisionist history.
