Siliga (and the DT situation in general)

And Collins crashing down which is a bit of a theme in helping out the DTs in the run game.

Too bad he took the cheese and crashed down instead of covering Jordan Cameron in the 4th qtr.

The Patriots didn't plan on having to throw Vellano in the fire the way they did (playing >60% of the snaps this season).

In any case, right now, a four-man rotation of Wilfork, Jones, Siliga, and Vellano for 2014 doesn't sound too bad. [I'm not saying that they should go with it, merely that it's not inconceivable that they could.]

Vellano absolutely sucks. He should consider himself very lucky if he's on the PS next year.
Swap Armstead for Vellano, and we might have something, though I still feel that a studly DT
should be an offseason/draft priority.

So Sealver is his nickname. Tupaimoefitpo is his real first name.

That's even more unpronounceable than Hoomanawanui.

Think I'll stick with Sealver. :rocker:

Uh-oh. Vellano looked better in the beginning, had a big sack in Atlanta when the Falcons were looking to take the momentum away. After 13 games, he was wearing down, now Siliga comes out fresh and looks better. Vellano is just a rookie, he has plenty of time to improve, to gain weight and become a good player.

It should also be noted here that Vellano is ineligible for the practice squad, due to being active in more than 8 games in one season.

Hopefully we won't have that idea popping up repeatedly over the next eight months.

I'm beginning to think Amstead may never play a snap here.....guy has alot going on medically it seems

UOTE=BradyFTW!;3675382]How many players do you want on the 53 in that exact role, though? Because that's the same role that both Jones and Armstead are suited for, so having all of them would just be redundant.[/QUOTE]

Vellano would have to be extremely lucky to be on the practice squad next year – he doesn’t qualify anymore so he would need the NFL to grant him an exception. Regarding Vellano sucking I actually disagree; he is playing 1Tech DT often times which is not an ideal position for him, he is more of a penetrating DT with a high motor.

I think he will be fine and play in 2014; he will have plenty of time to recover prior to the start of OTAs.

How much does everyone think Sopoaga would cost with a restructured contract to backup DT/NT for a few seasons?

I think you have a better chance of seeing Aaron Hernandez return to this team in 2014 than Isaac Sopoaga.
