Where to begin. That was a messy game. Neal with a knee right to marchands head as he looked down at him is filthy. Thornton lost his cool big time. If Oprik fights him 5 min before..it doesn't happen. But he didn't.

In person hearing..i say 8 games for him. Neals hearing is over phone so it can't be more then 4 i am pretty sure

Orpik is out of hospital and flew with team. If it was a bad concussion he would not be flying.

i think the outrage on Thorton is a little overblown. Yes,it was a bad thing to do but only because of the outcome. Oprik caused an injury as well but no outrage. Neals knee was malicious, but no outrage. The whole game was poor

Oprik and Neal both deserve suspensions as well. The Pens take their lead from Mario the fraud where you touch one of their guys and it's a crime but they can do whatever and it's acceptable. From Neely and Samualson to Savard and Cooke it's always been the case. Thorton lost his mind and deserves a suspension but given the history with this team and Erickson already having been cheapshotted this year you can understand why.

Oh and Kelly has a broken ankle from the slash by Dupuis. I don't there's a suspension there but there should be.

No such thing as season ending IR in NHL.

It is IR out for min 7 days. No cap relief but player replaced on 23 man roster or

LTIR misses 24 days and min of 10 games. Salary still counts but while player is on LTIR a team can exceed cap by that salary.

Bruins have Kelly on LTIR (3m) and Savard (4m) on LTIR. Giving them 3.8m to use if needed until kelly comes back in 6 weeks. Savard's is being used basically for Iginlia salary.
