Look Demosthenes I don't think Tebow fans are bad people I just believe that they are not Patriot fans but rather they are simply Tebow fans, which is fine, they can root for any team or any player for any reason they wish to, but as Tebow fans and not Patriot fans what they really want is to see him playing, and if he was traded to the Panthers tomorrow they would follow him to the Carolina fanbase just as they did Denver, NYJ, and now NE. On the other hand, using myself as an example, I am as big a fan of welker as there is in this forum, and wasn't happy at how he was treated by the team and many of it's fans, however I am a Patriot fan and always have been, and when Welker comes to town I will be cheering for him when introduced and then rooting for him to have the worst game of his career. Whereas i honestly believe that if Tebow were traded to carolina his fans would be rooting for the Panthers to win and Tebow to have the game of his life. These are my honest beliefs on it, I believe that tebow fans are Tebow fans first and foremost, which is what allows them to go from team to team year after year, instead of sticking with one team and following them.

If I am wrong then please explain how Tebow fans could be jets fans last year and Patriot fans this year, rather than just Tebow fans?

I'm a Tebow fan and a Patriots fan. so shoot me!

I was never a bronco fan, NEVER a Jet fan... and tbh... as a Raven fan, i'm not a huge fan of your team either (though unlike the other two, i respect it). But yes... i'm ALSO a fan of Tebow and will root for him no matter where he goes and will root for him in every game he'd play in unless it was against my Ravens... in which I hope he passes and runs for 400 total yards..... but Flacco combines for 401 leading to a 1 point last minute victory causing Tebow's Team's only loss of the season

In all honesty though, I can't imagine a Tebow fan rooting for Brady to get hurt. Personally that would be horrible for Tebow anyhow, he's obviously not ready to take over a team at this stage in his development anyhow. I believe he eventually will be, but right now I want him to LEARN from Brady.... not take his job.

Ivan, I think you basically have simple one dimensional view of Tebow fans and aren't considering the fact that there are other possibilities or complexities.

I'm only speaking for myself here. I have been and will continue to be a fan of Tim Tebow AND a fan of whatever team he happens to be playing for. I make no bones about that nor have I ever tried to hide it. IF Tebow finally finds a home and sticks with a team for a number of years, my ties to that team will become stronger as the days roll along. That said, just because I'm a Tebow fan DOES NOT mean that I want "whatever is best for Tebow and screw what's best for the team."

It doesn't have to be mutually exclusive, and in my case at least, it isn't. My ideal scenario is for Tebow to be on the roster and to develop as the #3 under Brady, Josh and Daboll. If BB and Josh think that there are times where Tebow should be on the field, involved in whatever they come of it, of course I'll be happy about it. But if he sits on the bench all year and develops, I'll be fine with that as well.

The difference is that you are and were a Patriot fan before Tebow and will be after him, and truth be told i am fine with that, he's not a bad guy he's just not capable of running this offense so i see him as a wasted roster spot.

Fair enough, that's an honest response.

I'll take demos explanation and add what I am to it. As my name implies I am a Gator fan first and foremost, and a general football fan second. Tim Tebow is arguably the greatest gator of all time, but I follow all the Gators in the NFL. I don't really have a true NFL favorite team, but I'd have to say the bucs would be if I had one ( I'm from Tampa, live in Gainesville)

I have never claimed to be a fan of Denver, New York, or the Pats. I will admit that Tebow is the only one I bother to get on forums to discuss.

To further the point, I agree with demos that I would never root for Brady to be hurt, if Tebow gets on the field I'll be happy... but I hope its not ever because a player in front of him being hurt, Tom Brady or anyone else. I want him to earn it.

That's true, I believe they are tebow fans first and foremost, and want him to play first and foremost. Are there exceptions to that, I am sure there are, but when you see a fan root for the Jets in 2012 and become Patriot fans in 2013 then you can expect a great deal of skepticism to accompany that.

.

And i will admit, this is the only reason I will give you a hard time. Its like a miley cyrus fan going onto and become a member of a snoop dog forum because they did a song together once.

You have no loyalty to the patriots, and as such you dont endear yourself to the team. you are the person who will be shouting TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW when the patriots give up a touchdown on the opening drive before brady touches the field.

Why would he have to run THIS offense... you fit your offense for your quarterback. You can argue that an offense that fits Tebow can or cannot have success... But do you think Colt McCoy would be capable of running Kaepernick's offense? Does that mean he shouldn't be a backup?

Fair enough, though I doubt I'd ever be shouting for Tebow like you say.. just not my style.
I don't really mind if you give me a hard time, that's to be expected. What I don't like is that as a Tebow fan I get lumped into a mob with crazies and religious zealots when I've done nothing like that. Hell, I'm a damned atheist..

Oh, and I've always rooted for Tebows teams to do well whether or not he is on the field. It was hard watching last year, but I did it... knowing Tebow most likely wouldn't get much meaningful time in the game. But that's me, and I know that there are fringe lunatics that give us a bad name.

Because they have spent over a decade developing it and it has been the most productive offense in NFL history. They are not a read option team and becoming one simply to accommodate a CFL caliber QB is one of the worst ideas in NFL history. The Patriot's back-up QB's need to be able to run their offense, if they can't they should be somewhere else. Tebow might make some sense in carolina or SF, or washington etc..., he makes absolutely no sense in an offense based upon spacing, timing, and accuracy.

Its ironic that the three Tebow supporters in this discussion right now are either agnostic or atheistic... kinda funny actually.

Your offense has been successful because you have a GOAT QB running it for over a decade and it fits him perfectly... You'll have a harder time finding another qb to step in and replicating his success doing what he did than you would finding an offense thats better suited for the next QB to come along... Tebow or not.

I'm not. So therefore you guys aren't true Tim Tebow fans.

ok... 75% of the Tebow fans in this discussion

Either way... hardly the horde of religious zealots that many here claim.

Why would a JAG QB like Mike Kafka running an offense built for one of the best QBs in history be better than a specific offense built for a QB with a very specific skillset? Does anyone really think that Kafka running a Brady offense will fare better than Tebow running a Tebow offense?

I know what I would choose, but I also know that the anti-tebow crowd will go against it just because.

I think a Tebow-type of backup can make perfect sense. Not only do you get a possible utility player, but if the starter goes down for LESS than a season, you get somebody who can eek you out some wins with a "change up" type of offense. Other teams don't have film on it, and it wouldn't be the "light" version of the starter's offense.

Pretty good for holding down the fort for 4 to 6 weeks and hopefully keeping the team in contention.

I think it's an unreasonable standard to have if the standard is "Brady goes down for the season, we still win the Super Bowl."

That is NOT the question. Kafka was considered a camp arm to help the bottom of the roster rookies become acclimated to the NFL and to the patriot offense, not a potential starter for the patriots.

Having Tebow run his own offense did not help the development of those at the end of the roster.

So, yes, IF the goal was to find a 3rd QB who might run the team, then Tebow is a better choice than Kafka.

So, for me, the role of 3rd quarterback has apparently changed. For me, no 3rd string quarterback is worth changing the offense and using up practice time and preparation efforts. The fact that Belichick has done all this points to Tebow making the team and competing with Mallett for a 2014 contract extension.

Why would a JAG QB like Mike Kafka running an offense built for one of the best QBs in history be better than a specific offense built for a QB with a very specific skillset? Does anyone really think that Kafka running a Brady offense will fare better than Tebow running a Tebow offense?
