Kraft comments on Hernandez

No, no, no. Last week, Felger went on-and-on about how The Patriots should've hired a PI to follow Hernandez around. I'm not joking. This is what Felger criticized NE for not doing.

LOL, now that is funny.

That letter strikes me as an extremely mature thing to do. I know he obviously didn't write it, but he consented to its sentiments and signed it. I would have been VERY impressed if I were Kraft.

It's so interesting to even get a glimpse of all the behind-the-scenes stuff we don't know about the whole Hernandez situation. From when he was drafted up to now.

I'd agree in theory that it was mature. Given all that's unfolded it appears it was actually just a button Hernandez pushed to get what he wanted.

Oh, no doubt! It's definitely.....calculating in hindsight.

Once again, there was NO WAY of knowing/predicting/sensing/projecting that Hernandez was capable of murdering someone, even if the Patriots DID have a PI tailing him 24/7. Any blame directed anywhere but at Hernandez himself is baseless and stupid.

RK's comments made me think it's even more unlikely that Brandon Spikes will get a second contract from the Patriots.

It's shocking how much that draft class shifted in just a few months.

Hernandez and Deaderick gone. Spikes and Cunningham both having been suspended by the NFL during their first 3 years. Price never contributing anything because of his inability to learn the playbook because of alleged ADHD issues.for the character and off field problems.

Despite it all if McCourty and Gronkowski continue to play as they have it would still be considered an excellent draft. Imagine what it could been though if not

Robert Kraft breaks silence on Aaron Hernandez, saying he feels 'duped' if tight end is guilty - ESPN Boston
Love Robert Kraft, but he should shut up.

Sometimes, yes. In this case he HAD to say something on behalf of the organization.

I don't think he did. Hernandez has not been convicted of anything. I was surprised they cut him. Should have waited for a conviction or asked him to resign/retire. Now, the right thing to do is say, how does that go, we only talk about the guys that are on the field. That this is a legal matter. The team acted in good faith and is disappointed. Something like that. The Patriots are not victims and should not act as it they are.

(1) Why would Hernandez agree to do that?
(2) From a salary cap standpoint, Hernandez resigning or retiring would have the exact same impact as the Patriots releasing him.

The way OR works is you do what is on one side of the word OR the other. In this case, the team should have done nothing until he was convicted if he was unwilling to separate. Quietly. Then have no comment on a tragic situation except to offer condolences to the family of the dead man.

Wasn't there another thread about disappointment over no one representing the Patriots Organization at Lloyd's funeral??... There were some posters who felt that Kraft and BB should terminate their vacation to be there.. so now Kraft, after returning from Europe, speaks out and he is criticized...

Guess he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.....

when it comes to d bag journos blaming the ownership and coaches for AH's behaviour. its hard not to feel sorry for Kraft and co.

i mean its almost like some people think Kraft condoned Ah' s lifestlye and choices.

So, after everything that he's done for the Patriots and for the Boston area, he has to put up with arrogant nitwits like Shaughnessy making snarky references to "the increasingly erratic Robert Kraft" (I plead guilty: I'm a Globe subscriber)!

Mr Kraft is obviously a very emotional man and this must be hitting him very deeply. I remember Jonathan Kraft describing his father's strengths in business as his ability to negotiate and to judge people. What must you feel like knowing that you've misjudged someone so badly? I wouldn't be surprised (or blame him) if he was thinking of walking away.

But all true Patriots fans know how much we owe Mr Kraft and are keeping him in our thoughts. And if the mistakes that you make are ones you make because you've erred on the side of decency, that's not the worst thing to have on your conscience.

AH would never resign, as doing so would be tantamount to admission that he did something wrong...

The conviction may take two or three years, so you want him on the payroll that long???? You want this to hang over this team for that period.. ex-patriot Hernandez is appropo...

I wonder what specifically "You can be sure we'll be looking at our procedures and auditing how we do things" means short term and long-term in terms of player personnel decisions.

How about: Bob Kraft is a decent human being who is sorely wounded by this and felt the need to express himself to the fans?

Is that really so hard to understand?

No matter what he did/didn't do, there were going to be a flock of Monday-morning quarterbacks saying he should have done the opposite. As you make your case here, for example, with such certainty, and with no explanation of why your choices would have been superior to what the Patriots' organization did.

I understand the meaning of "or." I'm simply pointing out that one of your suggested courses of action is implausible at best. [It's almost like asking "Would you prefer your chicken with or without salmonella?"]

I don't feel bad for Odin Lloyd, kid was a thug, it goes with the lifestyle. It's not like he was some innocent boy or anything. I don't see why the Patriots should've had a representative there.
I don't feel bad for Kraft or the Patriots organization, only sorry for the players on the team who has to deal with questions regarding Hernandez all season.

Personally I feel the Patriots should've given him the same treatment as the Ravens did Ray Lewis. Wait it out, get the truth and answers and see if he's actually guilty of the crime. Not cut him, act like they're victims and then try to erase any memory of Aaron Heranandez from the organization.

The Patriots have people looking into these players' background. Criminal background. There's police reports about the Rhode Island incident, the Florida incident where some boys got shot (though Hernandez was only questioned), All the stuff that's been coming out lately regarding Heranandez's criminal activity, the Patriots, I'm sure was well aware of it. As long as he was performing well they were willing to slide it under the rug. Now that he's in jail they are cutting him off like he's absolutely nothing without even knowing if he's guilty or not.

I feel he should be given a little more support the team. I feel bad for Hernandez, especially if it turns out he's innocent.
