Is Quentin Moses woth a look?

The Pats 3-4 OLB unit could use an upgrade. The Patriots have taken high production guys in the past over raw athletes who run the best 40 times and have enjoyed dominating their division and being a contender for years. However, look for them to eventually address an aging problem on Defense. Moses is an interesting prospect, he has the frame to be a 3-4 end, but he is not quite there yet as far as his weight is concerned, so he will most likely be used as a DE/OLB tweener. This type of player is perfect for the Patriots defensive philosophy (i.e., Roosevelt Colvin, Willie McGinnest, Mike Vrabel) of getting after the QB, but being strong and big enough to take on blockers and play the run. I love his potential and size, but most importantly his athletic ability. For a roster like the Patriots they may fall in love with his potential at a position where they have great players but are starting to age and lack good depth. Look for him to work his way into the rotation which features some LB’s who are not getting any younger.

definatley. a great player really and a smart kid..just this year he seemed to "PLAY NOT TO GET HURT"

id give a good look @ him and teammate DE Charles Johnson as they can both be OLB

Some blog said Mosses would look good as a 3-4 OLB based on first few practices @ Senior Bowl

In rd 3, maybe. He has sub-par strength, sub-par guts, heart, fight. Just watch him play vs. Florida this year. He was awful, abused, ragdolled. Honestly, I wouldn't touch him. Hopefully the Jets take him in rd 1.

Sure, he's worth a look. He has the physical profile on paper. But, there are questions of work ethic and productivity, which is unPatriotic.

In any case, there are a number of tweeners that I like as much or better. Woodley, Spencer, Bazuin and Abiamiri are all names I think need attention. And, actually, the last three may be on the board when we pick in the 2nd.

How's this for a Day One draft class:

1(24) ILB Paul Posluszny, Penn State
1(28) OLB Lamarr Woodley, Michigan
2(60) OLB Dan Bazuin, Central Mich
3(88) ILB Stewart Bradley, Nebraska
3(92) OLB Anthony Spencer, Purdue (Compensatory - Vinatieri)

All linebackers-- after skimping in the draft for years. Looks good to me! I promise that in three years at least four of these guys would be legitimate starters.

I am starting to warm to Posluszny, he is very athetic and if he can play at 244 - 248 that shoul be plenty big enough. I don't think I would draft 4 LBs but stranger things have happened...

Spencer is rising, I think he is a mid round 2 pick. Moss from Florida may slide to the end of round 2 and has some potential.

Bradley is big and may be versatile enough to play ILB or OLB. Seems like a good pick in round 3. Similar story with Burgess from Michgan.

How would this look?

ROLB - Colvin, Bradley (Nebraska)
RILB - Bruschi, Alexander, Mays
LILB - Donnie Edwards (San Diego), Posluszny (Penn State)
LOLB - Vrabel, Woods

• Edwards and Pos. can really run, big improvement against TEs.
• Vrabel can play inside or out, maybe Bradley can as well.
• Pick 2 from the list for special teams Alexander, Mays, Izzo, Davis or a late round draft pick.

I love Georgia players. For some reason they seem to do good things in the NFL.

I realize where he's projected to go. What I'm saying is that he's really a 3rd round prospect. After watching him in several games, the guy just didnt come to play. Some speculate he was protecting himself from injuries like Kiwanuka suffered last year, and just dogged it. Either way, is that the kind of attitude you want in a 3-4 OLB? Also, he has no strength setting the edge. An OLB has to have grit, guts, toughness, desire and love for the game. Moses really didn't show it. He's obviously physically talented but we as Pat fans should know that's only part of it. Dan Bazuin looks like a better player to me, despite playing for E. Michigan. He's got the guts the grit and the speed. Anthony Spencer of Purdue as well. Jarvis Moss of Florida has more physical talent than Moses, and played better, though he has his own questions about off-field behavior (Though if his off-field behavior is just brawling I really don't have a problem seeing as he's a LB).

I would draft Moss at #24 and convert him to OLB. He reminds me a lot of Willie, less the incredible strength. On the line this year, he got doubled and chipped a ton as offenses really key on him. And while I do believe he suffered from a bit of Senoritis, I don't think his play was as bad as everyone is making it out to be.
His presense and the attention he drew, helped others to emerge on that defense.

All that being said however, if Willis is available at #24, then he's got to be the pick.

Are you talking about Jarvis Moss, or Quentin Moses? Jarvis Moss really reminds me of Willie, a mature Willie.

I'm not really a fan of any of the Florida defenders coming out this year. Not that I don't think they are really good players, I just can't project any of them into the Pats defense, except ofr maybe 2 of the DB's, Nelson and Smith.
I think the Mincey experiment last season showed BB just how difficult it would be for Florida players to play in our defense.
I'm much more confident in Moses ability to play OLB than either Florida DE or the kid from Arkansas.

He is really short (5'10" at the most) . barely came up to my chin. Really really hard to project him into the Patriots linebacking corp.
