So the Buccaneers played the Dolphins in their first 2012 pre-season game and former Patriots Chad Ochocinco came up 0 receptions for 0 yards and Tiquan Underwood led all receivers with 3 receptions for 76 yards including a beauty of a catch in traffic for 44-yards.

My reaction to the highlights and the stats was one of joy for Underwood who was a class act last season, and one of sadness for Ochocinco. As much as I enjoyed dumping on Ocho last season, it's now got that "this is not going to end well" feel to it.

There's a mawkish feel to this vigil of watching TO, Randy Moss and Ochocinco try to make comebacks. All three of those guys have already tarnished their legacies and may make it worse. It makes me admire Jerry Rice even more - he gave it a go after the 49ers, but knew when to say aloha.

Jerry Rice played about a good 3 years more then he should have he's last 2 years with oakland the year with the seahawks and he tryed to play for denver but could not even make the team, T.O ocho and Moss are all misfits none of them were going to make the HOF on there first try anyways so they realy had notting to lose

Pats should have kept Underwood and scrapped Ocho...I have a feeling Brady had something to do with his demise here. Didn't Tom have a sideline blowout with BOB over a play involving Tiquan in the end zone?

Good Luck to him and his haircut on his new team !!

Underwood is more aerodynamic now. That has got to help.

Chad was targeted early and had a 3rd down conversion go right through his mitts. He wasn't targeted thereafter. Deju vu all over again... He's fast as ****, though... We know this because he tells us so. Hard Knocks should get more compelling over the next couple of weeks. Chad's best bet was Garrard and he's now out for 2-4 weeks getting a knee scope of some sort. Tannehill and Moore will be looking for the guys they built some rapore with over the off season.

I would be absolutely shocked if Moss, who broke Rice's record for TD catches in a season, didn't make the HOF on his first try. Agreed with T.O. and Johnson.

While attitude and character aren't supposed to count in the pro football HOF, Moss may face a little pushback because he didn't dominate consistently even though we all believe he had the talent to. And much of that was on him (the decisions he made and what transpired as a result between 2004-2006 and becoming somewhat pedestrian and finally a PITA here after 2007). Same deal with TO. That might deny either or both of them first ballot induction depending on the competition they face when the time finally comes. Chad ain't getting in without buying a ticket or securing a press pass via the OCCN.

If Lawrence Taylor can get in with all of his off the field, uh, "exploits" prior to joining the Hall, then I don't see why Randy wouldn't for being a pain in the ass.

Taylor had a decade of dominance (10 consecutive pro bowls and 8 all pros) and two rings on his resume facilitated by the defense he led that Randy is still lacking. Randy was dominant early, then he fell off as his ego and contract demands derailed his talent, then he re-emerged with Brady only to fall back to the pack again with Cassel and Brady before shooting his way out of town again over contract and ego and falling flat on his face.

He was probably a statistical lock for eventual induction before he left Minny the first time in a huff. After that it was up and down and only dominant in that first season with Brady. And that season didn't end in a ring. Now if he personally somehow puts SF over the top in 2012 he may again be a first ballot lock. Absent that he's just a lock who could have done more with his god given talent except his ego got in the way.

You're straying away from your original point in an attempt to try to downgrade Moss. Your original point was that Moss may have some pushback on getting into the Hall because of various character issues. L.T. had that many character issues and then some, for example.

As for the decade of dominance argument, from 1998-2008, Moss hauled in 13,201 receiving yards (1,320 per year for those playing at home) with 135 TD's. His worst statistical year was in 2006 when he went for 553 yards and 3 TD's playing with one of the worst teams and offenses in the NFL and dealing with various injuries.

And I'm not sure how he "fell back to the pack" in 2008 and 2009. He hauled in 152 receptions for 2,272 yards and 24 TD's in those two years.

Yeah, after nobody gave a **** because he was so ineffective. Jerry Rice played WAY after his prime. He tarnished his legacy a bit too.

Rice had 1200 yards his 3 to last year while helping his team to the Super Bowl then had 850 the next year with marques tuiasosopo, Rick Mirer, and Tee Martin as his Qbs at age 41. His last season is the only season you could possibly say he tarnished his legacy and he was 42 years old.

Good for Tiquan. Felt bad when he got left off the Super Bowl roster last year.

Brandon Tate + Taylor Price >> Kid 'n Play + Stinko.

Ocho might S T F U on Hard Knocks now!

Jerry Rice was productive, not all-world, but still very good with Oakland (not counting his last season in the league when he was washed up).

His last full season with the 4-12 Raiders - 2003 - he had 63 catches for 869 yards and two TDs. The QB was Rich Gannon.

That production in 2011 would have kept Ochostinko with the Patriots. If Belichick was getting three or four first downs and 54 yards/ 4 catches a game out of Ocho last year, we'd have been thrilled.
