I'm looking forward to a lot of quick pass plays out of bounds, especially in the first half. Both teams should definitely use their full complement of timeouts in the first half, too. And a couple of really drawn-out replay reviews would be great.

Oh, did I mention that my sister is getting married on Sunday? I figure I'll be out of the reception and back at my hotel by 5:30 - 6:00...

Too bad about the wedding! I am sure if the reception is at a hall or restaurant they will have a bar with a TV. You'll be the only one in a pouffy bride's maid's dress in the joint screaming your head off!! I agree about the long slow game. We have to slow them down and play at our pace. Probably going to be tough at first. If we can stop LT on the first couple of drives and put up some points, we'll be in good shape.

I have a hunch that the Chargers defense will be looking for the same thing, so I would cross them up by throwing inside and use some screens, and a deep post to start the game to Jackson.

Forget the deep post to Jackson. He won't be open and it will be a possible INT, totally giving momentum to the Chargers.

So your sister's fiance on Sunday becomes a Merriman.

Tell that one at the reception and there will be Rivers of tears.

Hey brand-new NEM, you made me laugh out loud with that one!

Seriously though, this game is no time for your beloved inside slants and play action. Those plays run way too much time off the clock. It'll be the third quarter and I'll still be listening to toasts!

It always amazes me thta people don't check the NFL Calender before they schedule these things. I know that wedding have to be scheduled long in advance. But, the NFL came out with the playoff weekend many moths ago.

My suggestion is to get an MP3 player that also has FM staion radio.Put one ear phone to listen to the game and tell them it your new hearing aid. Desparate times call for desparate measures.:rocker:

Its not a joke. Your post proved my point. Why continue to throw the sideline fly routes when we never complete them. You, yourself, pointed it out in your post.

Umm...when I say "pass plays out of bounds" it doesn't necessarily mean incompletions. You catch the ball by the sidelines, you run out of bounds, the clock stops, I'm back in front of my tv by halftime.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody. I'm unlikely to find any co-consipirators to track down a tv...most of the guests are from NYC and DC so no rooting interests left. Ah well, I only have one sister. And I'd probably twist an ankle cheering for the Pats in high heels anyway.

the clock doesn't stop when you run out of bounds anymore. only within the last 2 minutes of the first half and the last 5 of the 2nd.

if you don't have dvr see if there are any fans at the wedding with the game dvr'd.

anyone who schedules their wedding during the nfl playoffs deserves to have an empty wedding. its the most popular sport and each game is win-or-go-home. smack your sister upside the head for being short-sighted.

had she scheduled it for last weekend she could have at least blamed the pats for not securing a bye.

I like it, NEM, but tell me - why the reliance on Jackson in your posts?

Just curious...

Well, best wishes for the day to turn out great from start to finish!

I can't even imagine a Patriots' playoff game happening and not knowing what's going on

What a moment it will be when you get to see the score . . .

The clock stops on out of bounds plays only in the last couple of minutes of each half.

Right-o, sorry. But I'm counting on those last few minutes -- after all, there's the possibility for unlimited replay reviews then too! Joy!
