No Ocho tonight?

I gave up hope of him being a consistent contributor a while ago, but I'm still hoping he'll make at least one game breaking play in the playoffs, just so he doesn't feel completely worthless!

I say since he clearly can't understand the system let him run a go route once or twice and let Brady rip one. Maybe he'll actually catch it or at least do something useful and draw a pass interference call.

I know I'm going to catch fire for this, but I don't carry the same hatred for Ocho as many. Obviously he wasn't worth the $ (not even close), and he's made it pretty clear he's either dumb as a stump, has completely lost his physical skills, or just doesn't care.

I tend to lean towards the dumb theory as I don't believe BB keeps a guy who isn't trying as hard as he can very long these days. I'm guessing Ocho is a team guy in the locker room. He knows he's along for the ride for a possible ring, and doesn't dare mess with that.

I think a bigger problem than who is the #3 wideout is who are the wideouts going forward. Branch is still in great shape but is getting older, and Welker's future with the team remains uncertain. But I don't want to hijack here so I'll just say at this point if Ocho is the biggest problem on this team I think they're in pretty good shape. Who knows, maybe his biggest day is still to come.

Belichick clearly didn't plan on giving $6 million to someone he wasn't expecting to contribute, but as we've seen on defense things seldom go as you plan during the season.

Others who were not contributing were let go. Chad has not been any real problem or distraction. There's no sense in being mad at him for Belichicks mistake.

The fact that our TEs are so versatile with Hernandez largely playing the role of an additional WR has covered up the lack of a deep WR, but I do expect you'll see Belichick try to address that deficiency in the offseason

If Chad gets his ring this year, do you think he'll get the "true" joy of winning one? Or more so the joy a backup quarterback has when being part of a SB team.

Like, is he going to cry and be proud? I hope he has some sort of impact in the next two games.

mabye he'll call Drew for advice on this, but at least Drew was a big part of the AFC Championship Game

He's basically Monty Beisel on offense.

When are people going to realize he just sucks? That was pretty evident by week four, when he dropped a TD against Buffalo. He's just not very good anymore.

His ass will be still learning the offense on his way out the door like Taylor Price.

So much for the idiots that said that BB was holding him out as some secret deadly weapon for the playoffs all season.

All the people that acted irate in defending CJ all season really lost credibility as far as judging WR's for this team.

Chad Ochostinko is more likely to be inactive for the remainder of the playoffs.

If chad is going to have a good game, this week will be it.

His dad passed away per his twitter, so he may finally have that extra drive to play.

That is if bb puts him on the field. I would think he would since chad knows a lot about the ravens.

Dont't forget that Chad used to play the Ravens twice a year and has had success against them when he played with the Bengals. Maybe he can atleast provide some insight?

So, because I apparently have way too much time on my hands, I ran the "first season with the Pats" numbers on all the WRs acquired by BB (draft picks and veterans)who made the regular season roster. In order then, listed by number of receptions:

So, Ochocinco is in the top third in production. $400,000 a catch still seems excessive.

Oh shoot, when did his dad pass away? Condolences.

Poor guy gets ripped here even when he's going thru a tragic week. Jeez.

I guess what strikes me is that Ocho, as the #5 pass-catcher, still out-produced guys like Gaffney and Givens and Andre Davis - on a team where two TEs and a "slot guy" (not even including Branch) produced more passing yards (3806) than the entire receiving corps did in five out Brady's first six years as starting QB.

Maybe his production didn't end up being worth the $$, but, in reality, he was one of a bunch of guys struggling to get opportunities to get a contribution in edge-wise here and there.

Also, BB picked up some pretty fine WRs in the past who "got it" even less than Ocho seems to have.

Dont't forget that Chad used to play the Ravens twice a year and has had success against them when he played with the Bengals. Maybe he can atleast provide some insight?

Agreed, I was gonna hop on and say that this am.

...this is the week....
