Good read. Right call for Pioli. He's got the full respect of the fan base, the organization and the football world. He doesn't need to prove anything.

He's good at his job, comfortable, generally sees eye to eye with his head coach (no guarantee of that even if he does have 100% authority in another job) which makes for a nice situation for him here. I'm glad he's smart and secure enough with himself to recognize that the grass isn't greener elsewhere.

Of course, had he truly been interested in the Giants job it would have been interesting to see him and his father-in-law vying for the position, but I guess the Giants were only interested in the son-in-law.

Things must be very interesting at those family get togethers.

Nice article. This Pioli news spells r-e-l-i-e-f for me. Though the Pats would survive without him, I think that the combination of Belichick and Pioli looks be hanging around for a little while - a fact which should make all Pats fans smile.

To add to that, how much is enough? I'm talking about Money. Pioli is undoubtedly paid 2 to 3 million a year. For the amount of years he has worked and will likely work, that will total 30 to 50 million (just a guess). Some might look at it as 'I can make another 10 million by going elsewhere'. I think Pioli may not view it that way. 30 to 50 million dollars (short of a crazy, drug addicted summer) should provide financial security to you and your future generations. So he's making enough cash to be very secure, is in a great position, enjoys where he is at and what he does, is well respected and is on the same wavelength as the coach. Seems like a smart guy to me to look around and say 'I've got it real good. Why would I go anywhere else'. Of course he, like others, reserves the right to change his mind.

I always respected that part of the BB/Pioli relationship where if they couldn't agree on a player, they just moved on instead of someone "having to win or be right". I remember hearing about that several years ago around draft day and it's always stuck in my mind.......Nice read, thanks!

It's sad that people find it so hard to understand that money doesn't drive everyone. Sometimes it is about being happy and as we all know money does not buy happiness.
