If the Pats ended up facing the Steelers, they would have been really depleted

Looks like Hampton and Keisel have potentially career ending injuries (not that the injuries are really career ending, but at their ages it probably is). Hampton may have an ACL tear. Keisel has a sever groin injury that may need surgery. Also, Max Stark might have an ACL tear.

As I watched this game wear on I liked the idea of playing the Steelers more and more.

Well,at least we won't have to hear that we went on to be a team that was missing half its starters like it would have been if we had beaten Pittsburgh.

But we will get, if the Pats had to play Pittsburgh instead of Denver, they would have gotten killed.

Pittsburgh is going to have some pretty significant defensive pieces to replace in the upcoming year or two.

I'll admit, I did share that thought as I watched the game yesterday (that the Steelers may not be a bad opponent). It vanished, however, as my hatred for the Steelers came to the forefront. I hate the Steelers and I'm gald to see them gone.

BUT.......

We ARE GOING TO HEAR that Tebow is without Denver's best receiver in Decker and only have 3 worthy receivers left on the roster.... Decker has a torn MCL

They'd still have probably been a tougher matchup than DEN. Ben started to turn it on in the 2nd half,he probably looked the best he has since this injury. And the Steelers were missing Harrison and others in our first meeting but they still managed to slow down Brady. As long as Troy P and Ryan Clark are healthy that D can cause problems. Denver played a great game but let's not forget they're an 8-8 team that lost their final 3 games in the regular season.

Regardless getting the winner of this game seems like a much better matchup than HOU. We're fortunate we wouldn't have to go through both HOU/BALT if we do win Saturday.

Steelers have completely broken down. Anyways lets not dwell on what ifs. The Pats have to beat the Broncos in foxboro to advance. Steelers need to reload badly in the offseason. They are aging and have worn down players now.

Agreed. I was very appreciative of the shots that CBS got of a dejected, hopefully retiring, Hines Ward on the verge of tears.

Also, did you see that get-up that Ben was in at the PC? I don't if he was going for "overweight, 1920s newspaper reporter" or "overweight, 1920s gangster"

Remember last week's idiotic thread where the OP wondered if it would be better NOT to have a Bye week. Besides the risk of losing the game, the risk of player injury is greatly reduced by not playing.

Dumbest thread since the start Mallett trade Brady at his peak summer threads

I thought the dumbest thread of the week was the one already pinpointing the Steelers against Patriots playoff game while severely disrespecting Denver with ZERO chance to beat the Steelers....that was the DUMBEST thread last week IMO

I had no idea James Harrison was 34 until yesterday.

They were depleted well before that game with Roethlisberger's gimpy ankle and Mendenhall and Pouncey's various injuries. I just hope that Denver's O-Line doesn't do that to our defensive line. Hopefully the referees will be keeping their eyes out for that sort of play.

No dumber than a thread I saw on JI posted on Saturday that the Pats' reward for getting the #1 seed was to lose to Pittsburgh next week and there was no need to watch the games because if the Pats could lose to the Jets and Ravens in subsequent years, there is no way the Pats could beat Pittsburgh. Funny thing is the original poster forgot that the Steelers actually had to beat the Broncos first.

Let me me see. Who is it that the JESTers have to beat; or do they get a big (Buh) BYE? :rocker:

Pittsburgh has to replace some guys, but their roster is arguably in better shape than ours. Their QB is younger, they have three outstanding young wideouts and a dangerous runner, plus they have a good tight end still in his prime, and a Pro Bowl caliber center. On D, they have Woodley and Ziggy Hood and Cameron Heyward up front, Timmons in the middle, and an aging Troy P and Ryan Clark deep. But the key is Roethlisberger, Woodley, and the wideouts. If you have a passing game and a front-line pass-rusher to build around, you're in good shape. Plus they have some young guys like Jason Worilds who look like they can play.

I wish they were declining, but their situation isn't nearly as bleak as Indy's, for instance.

Maybe not.

Oh. Could he play Saturday? RT @PostBroncos: John Fox said MRI on Decker's knee shows a sprain and he is "day to day."
