Bad news for the New England Patriots. The LOLphins may actually hire a qualified NFL coach for the next season.

Sparano was already a dead man walking. But, as noted above, they might hire someone the entire JEST fan base wants to see fired (some would prefer burnt at the stake ;) ).

Over Gruden, Cowher, Fisher?

These late season firings make no sense to me.

It makes sense in regards to seeing how an interim coach is fitting in with the team for 3 or 4 games and to which the Owner might not have to go look for a big name for coach in the offseason if the team goes 3-0 or 4-0 as it indicates he might be the right man for the job.....Jacksonville's new interim coach had a good debut already,if he wins the next 2 or 3 games they may not look elsewhere.

NO big name HC is going to go down to Miami without either being the GM too, or bring in his own hand picked personnel and FO guys. By keeping Ireland, Ross has limited himself to either current coordinators, former recently fired young HC's looking for another shot or college guys.

Ireland has sold him a bag of goods that essentially takes credit for everything good that happened this season, and blame Soprano for every thing bad. I think Soprano was a decent HC, much better than his rep around here. What he's done the 6 weeks before Sunday was, quite frankly, impressive. The Phins had a lot of adversity this year and his team was still playing hard and had 4 wins in a row to show for it. That wouldn't have happened if he wasn't pulling the right strings.....especially since he's been a dead man walking since around week 4.

He won't have any problems getting another NFL job.....maybe even a another HCing try.

Did he fist pump the wall ... :confused3:

Praying here that the Dolphins hire Norv Turner as HC once he gets the Ax

There will be many jobs available. It helps to have a start on the search process. BTW, someone will give Fisher a very good deal.

No kidding. None of the names being bandied about is going to tie their wagon to Ireland. They will want either carte blanch or the GM of their choosing. Especially Fisher since it was FO politics and an idiot owner that cost him his dean of coaching slot in Tennessee. As I recall Bill gave Sporano free reign in coaching the Dolphins. What he struggled with besides his own nature and dislike for owners like Ross was getting Ireland to quit spitting the bit on decision making as horemen say... Tuna intended to come in and coast and just set these guys up and consult occasionally and collect his millions but he ended up having to be too hands on in the FO because Ireland couldn't make a personnel decision with any conviction and was always waiting to see what Tuna recommended. When he left he made sure the people who needed to know that did - inside and outside of Miami. Only Ross is too stupid to learn lessons. And for that reason he needs a strong GM in place to run football ops and advise him against sticking his foot in his mouth yet again. Miami isn't going anywhere until that day comes (provided it brings a franchise QB with it).

The Miami Dolphins may have been mathematically eliminated from the AFC Playoffs with the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

some ideal replacements..a few are working but won't be for long.

I think it's just being proactive in finding someone to blame everything on. Can't understand it in Sparano's case, though, since he had the team playing hard and winning some games. Seems like it would have made more sense to let him play out the year, since it's not like the interim coach will have time to showcase much of anything anyways.

In a situation like this someone is going to be the scapegoat at the end of the season and even though Sporano got it turned around somewhat Ireland was driving the bus and simply aimed it at him. That's what desperate GM's do to HC's all the time. Convince owners that the plan is good, it's the execution that is at fault. Every man for himself, baby.

I literally cringed when I saw Brad Childress's face. I didn't realize how little I thought of him as a coach until that involuntary reaction.
