Crowd noise Sunday V Jets

I have been a season ticket holder for 17 years. Sunday's crowd seemed to me to be the loudest I have seen at Gillette in a number of years, perhaps dating back to the Super Bowl playoff runs. I am interested to hear from other folks at the game. Belichick commented on it yesterday as well.

Obviously it was an exciting game against the Jets. It's loud when we go down there; it's loud when they come up here. The fans were great. They gave us a lot of support. [I'm] glad we were able to give them some plays to encourage them to keep giving it to us.

Good, will never be great, not with the way the stadium is structured in terms of pricing and layout (open end, and for the seats that the middle-class can afford, they are extremely(!) high up and far from the field).

My experience, when I went to the (amazing) 45-3 Jets destruction last year, where people here said the crowd noise was "great,", was that it was only good. I was down in the expensive section, and more than half the people's idea of making noise was standing up and quietly clapping or making one noise and then stopping. I saw this on TV for this game too. I was screaming like a madman on every Jets down, especially third and fourth, and I was definitely a little unusual in my section anyway. If you look at a GB crowd, pretty much everyone is up screaming their lungs out.

Because of the above factors, Patriots games will never be like that, except perhaps in the seats that are so far away you might as well be yelling in outer space.

That said, the crowd was good on Sunday. Just sayin'. I want to see it better...

It could always be better...When was the last time the opposition took a timeout to make changes? I cannot recall that ever happening in this building. The Old Dump, that's a different story...

I admit to only attending playoff games at Foxboro, but in my experience, the playoff games have been as loud as games at other stadiums (Meadowlands, Heinz, Ford, Ralph Wilson, Philly, Fedex, Soldier). I regularly go to games at these 8 stadiums and I think Foxboro gets just as loud, but again, only for playoffs. My meter for crowd noise is simple: the decibel level gets so loud I can't hear my friends yelling right next to me. I just hear this big din and that's it.

It could be the season ticket holders don't like to sit in bad weather. Quite possible since I've been buying great seats at ticket value off ticketmaster.

Theres room for improvement, i think a lot of room. During the game when the jests had the ball the camera panned over the crowd many times. I noticed at Least a Third or More of the crowd was just standing there watching. Now i'm sure there were a lot of jests fans at the game but Not that many. Being the 12th man is a team effort.

The loudest games I've ever been to were the Cassell Jets game in '08 and the Pats-Ravens game on MNF in empty bank. The Ravens sucked that year too, shame our crowd can't get behind the team unconditionally.

It was loud Sunday, but it could've been louder. I don't put too much stock into the open end thing because the crowd is as loud as it wants to be. When they've wanted to, they've rocked the broadcast cameras with noise. The 'down in front' crap and people taking Sunday afternoon strolls mid-game is killing the crowd noise.

I've been to all but three home games since 1993 and have never missed a game at Gillette. It's been just as loud at other games much more recent than the SB playoff runs, including last year. The Chargers game was loud too.

Never been to the Razor (man, would me and my wife love to), But been to the meadowlands many times. Loud as hell when Pats had ball. Dont go anymore. I got sick of dealing with unruly Jest fans

I'm so glad someone brought this up. The Razor was rockin on Sunday! The fans were really ampted. The fans had gotten so use to winning they slacked off with their noise in previous years. The Pats haven't won it all in a while. The fans are hungry for another championship! Keep up the good work.

It was a loud crowd Sunday at "Occupy Gillette" despite the fact that yet again our row consists of corporate brown nose pukes who come to the game just to be seen and spend (not exaggerating) most of the 1st half going back and forth buying the crap food and going for drinks. The women looked the part, hefers.

That said, I was hoarse Sunday. But it was louder at the Dec 6th 45-3 rout which I was also at. I think I'm the difference. Gotta run now because I just dislocated my shoulder.

The crowd noise did not seem that loud on the telecast. I assume that this can be a function of the telecast audio.

I thought the crowd was very into the game but then again they usually are. Not always but ususally and always for big opponents I don't think the crowd noise had any impact on anything that happenned on the field but then again save for the rare poorly coached, completely undisciplined offense (yes you Mike Martz) crowd noise long ago stopped making a big impact in the NFL.

Lions head coach Jim Schwartz credited the crowds effort for the 9 (not a typo) false start penalties committed by the Bears last night on MNF.

As good as the crowd was on Sunday (idk I wasn't there, but judging from the last game I was at, I find it hard to believe they were anything but average.) does anyone think the crowd at the razor is capable of a performance even close to that?

I think a personel change is in order. Let's get the fans who can't afford these prices in there. You know, the ones who actually want to be there for the right reasons?

I know it will never happen but, imagine an experiment where for one home game, ticket prices are dramatically reduced. I firmly believe we would see a big difference in crowd performance! But who knows maybe that would fail, and maybe I'm just bitter because I'm a poor college student lol.

So let's see, if you were at the game it was loud and if you watched on TV it was not so loud. It seems like we have this same conversation every few games. There are a few people who act like they're in a movie theater but the vast majority of people at the games are doing their best to get into it. If it doesn't sound loud it's not for lack of effort by the fans.
It also seems like Fox goes very heavy on the crowd noise in their broadcasts while CBS mutes it in theirs.

You have a point. In 5.1 audio systems the announcers are on the center speaker and the crowd noise mics are piped into the L R rear speakers. How the audio volume mix is adjusted is up to the broadcasters.
