Maybe it would be best just to cut Koppen and then try and resign him when he got healed up?

The jets should do the same with Bart Scott.

God Bless Mo Lewis???

Really disturbing post TSK. first of all the Mo Lewis hit on Bledsoe did extremely serious damage to him and shouldn't be celebrated in any way. Brady was going to take that job anyways and while it's fine to relish Brady taking the job celebrating the injury to Bledsoe sucks.

As far as Koppen goes he has been exceptional for the Patriots and the idea that Connolly is suddenly better is way way way off the mark, if he was he would already be the center, and the constant refrain in this forum to get rid of great players in favor of draft picks and completely unproven players is naive at best and ignorant at worst. Over the last year Patriot fans have wanted to get rid of Mankins, Light, Welker, Faulk, Koppen and others and those pushing those ideas have been wrong on every count.

If that did not happen Tom Brady would still have been on the bench... we would probably not have won a SB that yr. I guess my realistic view stinks

w/o that TFB on the spot coming in to fill in as a starting QB... the butterfly effect comes into play... We would not be a dynasty and Brady would he have accomplished the same feats w/o Drew B going down? I say absolutely not

Not sure your gonna find anyone who agrees with this. Koppen was a solid starter. Connolly I view as more a journeyman/lunch bucket guy.

What I wanna know is who is Our backup center now?

really??? Am I alone thinking Koppen is nborderline average. IDK... I just do not like him

as for the back up center (no idea who it is)

cut koppen sign a C

when koppen heals up resign Koppen

The ONLY thing the Jets have us beat on the line is @ C

Yes indeed... Solder's play was very encouraging and Connolly went in and there was no let down at all. We are thin for backups though. Looking forward to watching Solder dominate for years.

when I selected this name... I knew w/o a doubt my #1 Draft Binky would be a STAR I did not see him busting at all... I can't wait to see him w/ more experience. Imagine how much strength he will gain in the following years

I can't believe how DC gets NO love???

@ LG he filled in for Mankins during his hold out and played exceptionally well. Who is to say he will not excel @ Center? I never hated this guy... Give him a chance doubters.:bricks:

Doesn't matter to me, celebrating a devastating injury sucks, period. They may not have won in 2001 but Brady was taking that job either way because he runs the game the way Belichik wants it run and Belichik knew that when he went to him and he knew Bledsoe would always make he same mistakes no matter how much he coached him not to. They still would have won with Brady in subsequent years regardless of 2001 because he's a winner and was going to produce no matter what happened in the past.

The same goes for celebrating Koppen getting hurt and suggesting he be released because of it, in my opinion that sucks, he has played his ass off for this team and has been one of the best centers in football since he arrived here. unfortunately fans are fickle and if a players isn't the best at their position then they have to go for something newer and shinier, and that's the case here. I agree that going forward they have to bring in a high quality center but that's because Koppen, like Light, is heading to the end of his career, not because he suddenly sucks, and i really hate seeing anyone celebrate a serious injury to a great player and then calling for their release to try and take advantage of it.

It's not that Connolly doesn't get love.

It's that Koppen got hurt and all of a sudden you think he is an average center. Nevermind the fact that he has been durable, excellent about not allowing sacks, and that Belichick has said that he is one of the best he has ever coached at recognizing what the front seven on the defense are doing and that he is almost always on the same page as Brady.

I think a better question would be posed to you as to why doesn't Koppen get any love even though he has actually earned it by being a consistently good player over the past 6-7 years.

So far your reasoning has been "I just don't like him". Perhaps you may sway more opinions if you expand on your thought process.

I'm not doubting him, but also none of us have seen him play a whole game at center, so I'm not about too annoint him either. The real issue people have is that your suggesting that Koppen going down can somehow benefit the Pats. The Center position is the glue that holds the OLine together, so if You think Connolly can take on that role without missing a beat, that is a lot to be asking. If Connolly was so highly regarded, then I don't think Waters would of been brought in to take his job.

Didn't know you made posts without at least a hint of sarcasm.

where did I celebrate this injury??? I hate to be blunt but that hit was probably the best thing that ever happened for this Patriot's fanbase. I am not celebrating his injury. With all things being considered this hit led to the RISE of Tom Brady. (This is FACT and not a demonstration of celebration) Don't make me into the bad guy and twist my words. I did not wish ill harm on DB... his injury, which was 1 of circumstance led to the rise of Tom Brady

that 60 hurts you PJ I heard you are a 58

Solder should be getting alot of credit as he played really really well but can we not forget and also give Waters a buttload of credit that he surely deserves. You would have to think having a probowl savy vet next to Solder helped him out. Im sure Waters was barking out diff stuff for him to watch out for and just helping him out in general. Waters really was impressive for just joining this team barely a week ago. Waters, Dan the man and Solder had great games.:rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker:
