Gerard Warren released

I agree with the need for a blocking TE. I just don't think he has a lot of talent. I'd have preferred that we kept Yeatman. He seems to have a lot more upside to me. Gronk 2.0 seems to be a JAG. I hope I'm wrong. Some of these late roster moves are head scratchers.

The head scratcher to me is the fact they currently have Tracy White, Tarpinian and now Edds at LB/ST as well as Ihedigbo at safety. I wouldn't have minded trading out 2 of them to keep Warren and maybe Maneri. I don't know what Tarp has done to earn a spot, Warren did earn his, maybe he'll be back.

I don't mind the Gronk signing, I just don't like that it was at the expense of Warren. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what Tarpinian brings to this team.

More than Yeatman, Butler, Meriweather, Maneri, etc.

He was playing like a beast out there. I'm very surprised about this.

That mysterious Tarpinian kid should have been released. What the hell has he done to deserve his roster spot? I don't like this move.

Obviously enough to make the 53 man roster over Sanders, Merriweather, Tate, Butler, Warren and the other 20+ players this camp.

If somebody doesn't snag him like every other player the Pat's cut. :)

Warren is a vested vet. Hence he doesn't have to go through waivers and can turn down any team.

Agreed. That's a lot of ST depth! Tarpinian must really have impressed BB. Maneri is another one I wanted to keep. We're going to have to start building our young OL depth again. With AH and Ellis both being older, we're going to need DL depth to spell them. Warren played well last year and he did play a fair number of snaps. It's going to be interesting to see what happens.

The guy was out all preseason with an injury, he didn't even practice.

When will the armchair QB's quit second guessing BB and his staff ????

Really..............

The only thing I can think of is that he either has a very high football IQ or BB likes what he did in College. I can't imagine BB keeping this undrafted guy around unless he sees great potential.

Hey, we're here to talk Patriots football, and even BB doesn't get 'em right every time.

IMO Warren is the right kind of player to release -- a vested vet who has indicated he really wants to play for the Pats and just the Pats, and who is unlikely to attract swarms of other suitors. The classic wait-by-the-phone guy. (By the same token, I might cut Tracy White before Tarpinian.)

The cut that gives me the most qualms is Maneri, but having Welch on the PS soothes a bit.

I don't get it either. He must have pictures of BB naked or something. :confused2:

Yeah another confusing release. Adding more intrigue to this Tarpinian kid. We at the moment are carrying 8 LBs which seems like overkill to me. Just wondering whats going on and why Tarpinian is being kept over the other guys who looked good in preseason and had potential like Warren, Yeatman, Maneri, Austin.

In preseason It seemed Warren was ahead of Pryor on the depth chart. If Belichick was so decided on releasing a DL wonder why Warren went instead of Pryor.

Here you go for those of you wondering. I stumble upon BB's diary yesterday and in January 1987, he met a young woman, unbeknownst to him she got pregnant but did not tell BB until after the 2011 draft.
So ...

Do you ever take a step back to ask yourself what the f might Bill know that I don't? LOL at your  face...

Things are seldom as they seem to us way outside the loop observers. We largely rely on each others or mediots spin. I have a feeling Warren made the decision last season to persue a ring before his day is up and decided Bill and NE was his best shot.

Boy I'm really going to miss him for the 4-8 days before he rejoins the Pats.

I'm not thrilled about this release. Hopefully this is temporary. I'd hate to see him picked up by another team in the AFC.

I'll take a shot.

Pryor is young and may well have a future. If he was cut, he'd be scooped up, and that's it for him on the Pats.

Warren gets cut, has a handshake deal. If somehow Warren doesn't have an understanding or goes back on his word, what's the loss? An old guy that may be effective this year, and this year only.

Pretty god awful against the run, serviceable against the pass. I'd welcome him back on the vet minimum as an interior sub-rusher. Pretty far cry from last offseason though when I was quoted I believe 70+ times by two guys who were screaming that he was a starting caliber DT/DE in our system.
