Haven't read anything about it but, they wore the throwbacks last 2 years because 09 was 50 anniversary of the AFC and last year was 25 year anniversary of the 85 AFC Champion Patriots. Hoping we don't have to wait for AFC's 75 year anniversary and the 50 year anniversary of the 85 team or something. Anyone read anything about these becoming our permanent alternates? Would love to see them twice a year every year.

This year is the 10 year anniversary of the 01 team..?

Damn, and here I thought the mascot was on the bubble!

Negative.

Under the new CBA, Pat is a UFA. Look for him to surface with the Niners, or Rams, both of which are struggling with a lack of depth at the mascot position.

Damn, well I wish him good luck then. It's been a hell of a run.

Rumor has it the Giants who don't even have a starting mascot.

those silver disasters are gone... the red throwbacks are the alternate jersey just dont know when they will wear then.. has not been announce what game its on...

We don't need a stinking mascot. We have a squad of militia with guns to keep the crowd in line.

You're kidding right? You know Pat Patriot is ending up on the Chiefs roster.

I understand he's being traded for a groundskeeper now, and a cheerleader to be named later.

The NFL permits teams to wear an alternate jersey up to twice a year. Actually 'permits' is probably a bad word; encourage would be a better term. With teams wearing more different uniforms, there's a greater tendency for fans to purchase multiple jerseys - some will end up buying one of each color. More jersey sales equals more profits for individual teams and their owners.

It would be bigger news if the Pats did not wear throwbacks twice this than an announcement that they will. Considering the choices of throwbacks available to choose from, I would say it is almost a foregone conclusion that we will see Pat Patriot on the team's helmet in at least one game in 2011. As far as when that will be, my best guess would be Week Two, September 18th against the Chargers; that's the day after the team Hall of Fame ceremony for Jon Morris and Drew Bledsoe.

Nope, he must have signed since I spotted him in uniform at Training Campl

Think those guys do birthday parties?

I think I'm the only guy in the world that likes the Silvers.

Though, I will say they have the potential to look a lot better. Would be good if they were as shimmery white/silver rather than grey.

We need more troops!!! We also need to place a squad behind the away team bench!!!

I also like the silvers. Was actually hoping to purchase a silver Welker if it became the alternate this year (paging Ken Flanders).

Don't get me wrong Pat Patriot lovers - those are also cool but the drawback is that Pat is only on the helmet - not on the jersey. Would be cool if he was on the sleeve or something. Though I know that would not be historically accurate. Then again, I don't remember recalling in history class that Paul Revere and J. Adams and company had a pigskin tucked between their legs.

I actually own a silver Welker replica jersey. It was a birthday present to me last year. A little tight, but it fits better now.
