2011 mock draft 4.0 - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Castonzo at 17, after Watt goes at 16. Not coincidentally, he seems to have a low opinion of Light.

Trade out of 28 because value is low and somebody might trade up for a QB.

It's been established from other articles that he has a low opinion of Heyward.

He once again proves why he is Patsnutme's draft guru. :nooo:

Any tackle over Ryan Kerrigan at #17 = :nono: for me...

Some creative, thought-provoking picks here.

I wouldn't have thought of Green as filling a major need for Carolina, compared to QB or DT, but it's true that they don't have much in the way of high-end AND young talent in their WR corps (Smith, LaFell, Gettis, Charly Martin, Wallace Wright, Armanti Edwards).

I agree with Von Miller to Denver. Wouldn't have thought of Dareus to the Cowboys, but it seems an equal possibility to them taking Watt. And Pouncey to Miami is pretty far out of the box, but not entirely implausibile.

OTOH, Fairley to TEN, Aldon Smith to DET, Houston to GB and Sherrod to BAL seem to me like mis-reads of their rosters and major issues.

Fairley to TEN = His College DL Coach, Tracy Rocker, is now with TEN.

A.Smith to DET = Vanden Bosch is older and coming off injury

Houston to GB = they don't have many needs but an OLB across from Matthews is one of them

Sherrod to BAL = Gaither has worn out his welcome and they need a RT if they want to move Oher back to LT.

Dalton at 28?

Read what he wrote, he's picking Dalton at #28 for another team after we trade the pick.

He's picking Dalton for another team yet he doesn't have another team there, just possibilities. And now that I think about it, why would a team want to trade to 28 when the teams picking after don't have QB needs, wouldn't they be better served trading to 33?

Perhaps, because they think some of the teams behind the Pats might trade out to a team that needs a QB?

There's two points :

1) He's not picking Dalton to us. It looks like it but he's projecting a trade.
2) LikeSamBamsFan said, if the QB are still there at 28 there could be itchy trigger fingers to get something done before 33. We could also be left out if the itchiness starts before 28.

I understand what he was trying to do but I don't like the premise of keeping the Patiorts name there, is it really that hared for him to name a team to the spot? Surely he doesn't think this is the only trade to go down in the first round. So why not infer a trade but make a feasible pick?

Vikings draft Tyron Smith @12th and trading up for 28th? I don´t believe it. With which picks?
I can see, Vikings trade down to 17th or 28th to create more picks.

Alternative views:

Fairley to TEN = His College DL Coach, Tracy Rocker, is now with TEN. -- While the "coach connection" thing doesn't always work, he may have a point anyway. Jones looked okay at LDT, but Tony Brown's play seems to be falling off and Marks has yet to step up. Outside of possibly QB and replacing a FA DE (or two, or three) and FA MLB Tulloch, they don't appear to have a lot of other screaming needs.

A.Smith to DET = Vanden Bosch is older and coming off injury -- Turk McBride probably did just as well as KVB's replacement. Meanwhile, LT Backus is a year older than KVB and RT Cherilus hasn't been very good.

Houston to GB = they don't have many needs but an OLB across from Matthews is one of them -- They actually have a couple young guys who played well at ROLB this season (e.g., Frank Zombo). OTOH, their DEs are both over 30, RDE Jenkins seems injury-prone and is a FA. And there's no one behind them.

Sherrod to BAL = Gaither has worn out his welcome and they need a RT if they want to move Oher back to LT. -- Maybe so, but Yanda seemed to do okay, OC Birk is turning 35 and they have no one behind him and they have only one WR under the age of 31 (not counting KR David Reed).

I don't think anyone would move up to 28 to get Dalton if only Gabbert and Newton have gone.

If say Locker and Ponder are already gone, then yeah, I could see someone panic.

Jimmy Smith @11 to Houston? After missing with Kareem Jackson, I doubt they'd draft another CB at 11. He's not even in most mockers' first round. He'd probably still be there at 28 or 33.

Not sure I'd call Jackson a "miss". He didn't put up McCourty/Revis level pass defense numbers, but then, he was playing RCB, not LCB and he was fourth on the team in tackles (helping to make up for yet another front seven that was mediocre vs the run).

If they need help in the secondary, it might be more at free safety, where Eugene Wilson clearly deteriorated in 2010. Now, I could see taking Jimmy Smith as a possible CB to FS conversion, but NOT at #11. At #42, sure, if he's still around. And, anyway, Texans fans and coaches have said they like what they saw last season in Troy Nolan for that spot.

Not a fan of this Mock...

Carolina invested in WRs last year and they are a running team. So why take Green when you could snag the top corner?

From there, the mock got worse. If that was possible, it did.

I still don't get why people don't think tenesee needa a QB. They have a talented roster... they just need someone to get the ball to them after the Vince Young Flop
