Music to my ears.

IMO if BB relly wanted Brooks Reed, he would not be visiting BB would not let anyone know if he was planeing on Drafting him in the first only way i see the pats takeing him if he falls in the mid 2th round and i dont see that happening

You never know. Both the Patriots and the LOLphins brought Julian Edelman in for visits. . . .

I don't think any team in the NFL would be surprised if Belichick drafted a 3-4 pass rusher. There's no secrets there. I assume Reed came to talk X's and O's.

Pats have drafted plenty of prospects they had in to visit. So I don't think this is conclusive of anything except that he's on their radar. Pats don't waste their visits on 'smokescreens'. They really want to determine if those prospects will be a fit. Now anything they officially say I wouldn't believe cos they are incredibly tight lipped usually. But in any case BB has brought in plenty of guys that he interviewed, quizzed, worked out, etc.

Most of thier picks last year they brought in for either visits or workouts (McCourty, Spikes, Hernandez, Mesko, Zac Robinson) Cunningham and Gronkowski were really the only two they didn't meet with first. The year before, they were heavily connected and worked out Butler too and they ended up picking him. Most of the time, the players the pats bring in for workouts are the ones that they will pick depending on where they value them.

I would be surprised. It almost never happens.

You mean like Tebow, Dez Bryant, or Pat White, or Vernon Gholston?

You're really reachin for crap now buddy. Gholston was drafted too high for the Patriots to take him, Tebow was a reach and so was Pat White. They would only take guys where they value them. My point was, if you actually read what I was talking about, is that most of the time when they work out a player they have a good amount of interest in him. You don't know, if Dez Bryant was still available at the beginning of the second, the patriots could've taken him but they didn't value him enough to take him in the first. When teams make a pick there is usually a connection, whether it be a work out, visit or an interview at the senior bowl almost all the time.

How do you know the Patriots would have taken Bryant as a UDFA? You don't know, you can speculate but that's all it is.

Having someone in for a workout gives you more info on them and by default it will let everyone else know you brought them in, that's it. While I think there's value in getting other teams to think you want players you actually don't want I don't know for certain that BB plays mind games any more than you know they don't.

First of all, when I said "You Don't Know" what that implied was that you cannot be sure they wouldn't have taken Dez Bryant somewhere, I don't know how interested they were in Dez Byant but I know they were giving him a good look just like they do with most players they draft. It is undeniable that they would've given Dez Bryant at least a look in the scond but did not value him as a first round pick. I'm not saying Brooks Reed is coming to the patriots just because he had a visit either, I'm just saying that there a level of interest we know about now. I don't know what you mean by mindgames, you really think a team like Miami or the Jets will take Brooks Reed in the first round, just to keep him away from the patriots, he's not that much of an elite prospect. It all depends on where they value Reed, if they like what they see a lot, they'll take possibly at 28, if they like him enough and don't value him at 28, they'll look at him in the second and if he's gone they'll look at someone else. Why in the hell would you think, Belichick would work out players just to play mindgames, most of the players he's worked out so far have been borderline first round and middle round prospects with the exception of amukumara. Amukumara could be the one mindgame belichick is trying to play because I just don't see a talent like Amukumara falling that far.

From what's was rumored about Bryant before the combine and with what's come out about him lately I doubt BB would want him as a UDFA much less in the 2nd, the guy is apparently stupid and is very obviously immature.

Anyway, would a team over-value a player because they think BB is interested? Why not, teams make all kinds of stupid decisions all the time like drafting a QB because they salivate over his arm despite the fact that he can't read a defense to save his life.

That doesn't mean they'll necessarily grab Reed in the 1st round but it maybe they take him higher than they otherwise would have.

Just an FYI - we have on good authority that the visit never actually took place. La Canfora has also backed away from it.

Pat White says hi.

Soundbites from Tedy Bruschi on WEEI - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

Why he likes defensive end/outside linebacker Brooks Reed for Patriots. “He’s from my alma mater. He’s a defensive end coming out, had a great Combine, showed that he could drop back in coverage, do things that an outside linebacker can do – gets after the passer, ran one of the fastest 10-yard splits in the draft. He’s a guy that I’m very excited about. I’d love to see him in a New England Patriots uniform.”

You're really reachin for crap now buddy. Gholston was drafted too high for the Patriots to take him,

Gholston went at 6 when the Pats held 7. It'd be hard to prove that the Pats bringing Gholston in didn't "spook" the JEST into putting him at the top of their board.

During GRONK's draft day interview, he mentioned having visited Foxboro.

I mean like Chung, McCourty, Gronkowski, and Zoltan Mesko. Read above. The Pats have drafted PLENTY of the people they brought in for visits, workouts, etc.

Yes, and plenty that they've brought in were not drafted by the Pats, the point is that it's not wise to conclude they're interested in the player simply because they bring them in, that's it.
