Apparently our Strength and Conditioning Coach may be moving on?? IN the past he has received mucho praise from many of the players, is this a good thing or a bad thing??

Hope Bill does not think he can do this job also

Cowboys may hire Pats' strength coach - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

After 11 seasons with the New England Patriots, strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik could be headed back to the Dallas Cowboys, sources told ESPNDallas and ESPNBoston.

Woicik is scheduled to fly in to Dallas Wednesday to talk to the Cowboys.

Woicik is the only player or coach with six Super Bowl rings, having won three with Dallas (1992, '94-95) and three with Patriots (2001, '03-04). He was the Cowboys strength coach from 1990-96 before spending the next three years in New Orleans. The Cowboys were 89-38 during his seven seasons, including 12 playoff wins.

It's a very bad thing.

Re: Mike Woicik moving on???

Corwin Brown is out as secondary coach, as well. Although that appears to be more a move of the "firing" variety.

Woicik receives a lot of praise; then again, the Patriots consistently seem to have endemic injury issues. Not sure if the two are at all related.

This is a scary. You cant argue with 6 rings. one or two maybe you can say he was in the right place but I think it has hard to say he didnt have a big role in the 6.

I know the players have praised him alot through the years and one has to wonder how much the players would trust and buy into the new guy.

On the flip side maybe getting a new guy in with a different approach gets these guys working different areas and muscles.

Maybe you are onto something there as injuries would seem to be directly related to strength and conditioning not that you can fully blame that as it is a physical sport.

But I have come to think that the "endemic injury issues" are more a BB philosophy than anything else. I think he doesnt like waiting out injuries very much and I think he is real quick to the trigger on IR. Guy goes down unless there is a specific or short timeline he is likely to be IRed. This likely ties to his philosphies of having a strong middle class and roster top to bottom he feels he has the depth why waste the roster spot.

Raporort's blog linked Heath Evans as saying this :

Twitter / Heath Evans: @RapSheet Harold Nash shou ...

"Harold Nash should already be a head strength coach somewhere in the NFL or at an elite D1 program! He's a GREAT COACH!!"

He's the assistant, I assume he'll be promoted and sounds like we'll be in good hands.

Rapoport also suggested that there could be some coaching staff tweaks announced today.

Thanks for the reminder I have heard players praise Nash as well and it does seem as though we would be in good hands should Woicik leave and sometimes it can be better to have the protege than the master (see BB).

Still scary to think another 6 rings are walking out the door though.

Very true. It could also be that the Patriots are more or less consistently unlucky.

Always thought the injuries were a part of an extended schedule see Indy and NOLA this year.. seems that someone should do a longitudinal study of how many games are played the year before and whether it impacts the players on IR the next.

Wonder what Sal Alosi is doing these days?

There is no doubt in my mind that players that play 17 plus games a game break down faster.

Woicik leaving is the absolute worst thing that could happen to us this off season.

I think Nash will be just fine - continuity along with his own ideas.
He will be hungry for his first ring as the main man too!

Not worried.

That was my thought. The Jets have been pretty injury free (not completely) compared to the Pats and the rest of the league. Can we forgive?

Re: Mike Woicik moving on???

His contract is up and not being renewed - this looks like a time for change issue.

Harold Nash is taking over and the Patriots are confident in him and the players like him.

His player development program was acknowledged as the leagues best.

This isn't a big deal. Woicik is a good coach, but I'm sure the Patriots are prepared for the potential departure of any of their coaches coming into a contract year. Strength and conditioning are obviously very important, but it's not like we're looking for a new coordinator or HC here.

No doubt the extra PT attributtes to more injuries and maybe it is as simple as that but I cant help but think it is a BB philosophy especially when you consider the sheer number of IRs and not just injuries. IMO BB seems to be quicker to the IR trigger and less likely to wait out injuries.
