Is it too early to look for the wildcard?

Patriots can not win 3 straight road games in the playoffs.

One? Maybe. Two? Very unlikely. Three? No way.

Wild Card won't get us anywhere. We need home-field.

Actually, the Jets defense is showing weaknesses. They can't generate a pass rush with their down linemen, and the league seems to have caught on to Ryan's blitz packages. Today, the Detroit QB had all the time he wanted to find a receiver--very little pressure.
Objective viewpoints are going to be difficult to find after a loss.

After the Jets lost to Baltimore, NY fans were frantic. Same thing now with Pats fans who went in a few hours from having a sore shoulder from patting themselves on the back for the NFL's best record to despairing after losing to a 2-5 team.

The well worn cliche about parity in the NFL seems to be very true this year. In the past the story was all about how so many teams were within one game of being .500, 8-8. However, at the same time there were usually one or two dominant teams - the 13-0 Saints and 14-0 Colts last year, for example.

Right now there are no dominant teams, either on the field or in the standings. That should make for a very interesting and competitive season.

If we are a wildcard team I will be seriously pissed.

Need to drop both remaining games and NYJ needs to win both games to envoke the tie-breaking procedures.

1. Head-to-Head 1-1
2. Division 3-3
3. Common games--?
4. Strength of victory--?

True. It's a longshot for the Jest at this point.

By the way, I love these thread bumps from the middle of the season, when people were *****ing about a 6-2 team.

Agreed. People forget how long the NFL season is and how quickly it can turn.

With that said, I include myself in thinking the WC was the most logical way the Pats would make the playoffs.

I'm glad that I'm wrong.

Only way jets would win the division would be two wins and two pats losses. Jets would be 4-2 in the division we would be 3-3.

As I said, I would be seriously pissed if we couldn't squeak out a tie from the Bills or Dolphins, while the Jets win the next two.

I think most fans who felt that way are glad they are wrong too.

We were tied for first place in the NFL when this thread started. Same as today. The thread was chicken little from the word go.

You're right. My bad. I'm on vacation on not thinking clearly.

It's not that I didn't think that the Pats were a playoff team by mid-season. I thought that they'd drop 1 of the Pitt, Indy, NYJ games which would have hurt their conference record.

Either way, the crow tastes good!

I still think the Patriots will win the division, and I still think Miami will finish second in the division.

I'll eat these words if I'm wrong.

Do you like Cuban food? I hear they have lots of that in Miami.
