Article: Moss Viking stories leaking out...

No, I'm not. I don't know why the difference is so subtle for you. Let me put it this way:

If the penalty for stealing a gumball was the death penalty, I would protest that as an unmeasured response.

I see Childress as someone who completely failed to manage the situation and instead cut off his own hand to spite his face. He could have punished Moss privately and talked to him privately but that is a lot more effort than writing the guy's name down on a waiver sheet and leaking it to the press. Is this adult behavior? Is this what a manager does? Would BB ever have done this? Was this a measured response to the situation? Hell, no. It was a lazy response to the situation. Randy's actions were in poor taste, but Chilly's were detrimental to the organization he is supposed to represent.

What effect would privately punishing a player behind closed doors as opposing to outright waving him have on the player who has shown a lack of effort in games on top of criticizing you to the media? If Childress had handled the situation as you state that he should have, he would have an outright cancer on his hands right now who has a history of taking plays off. With the way that he's slowly losing that locker room already, keeping an unhappy Moss is the last thing he needs. This catering situation was just one reason for Moss being waved.

This isn't asinine. It's entertaining. You're now getting angry because I've used your own words against you.

Erm, I'm not angry. And your post is entirely lame and really completely wrong. At some fundamental level you insist on spinning what I have been plainly saying into something convenient to you, for whatever reason, and when I tell you that that's not the point, you stick your fingers in your ears and pull out ******ed internet memes to try to bolster your non-argument. I feel like I'm trying to explain evolution to a creationist here. Welcome to ignore, dude.

Glazer likes to tell it like it is and he is always spot on. He has no hidden agenda for or against Moss as far as I have seen. We know Silver has always had it in for Moss back to his time covering Minnesota during Moss' first tenure. I don't disagree with what happened, but if a guy like Glazer calls that out I am going to take his word over Silver's about the locker room's thoughts.

He was only there for 3 weeks. It is clear to me that no effort was made to manage the situation. Chilly didn't even lift a finger to contain the high-maintenance acquisition he KNEW he was receiving. In a regular business, 6 months performance plans are quite typical. 3 weeks is a joke and in any other environment would be completely unacceptable standards worthy of a lawsuit. Now all the Vikings fans get to pay the price and they are all screaming, "FIRE CHILLY"! If I still lived there, I'd join them.

Since I know you're going to read this anyway after you put me on ignore, I'll go ahead and respond to it.

How was I spinning what you said? Once again, why are you expecting anyone to come away with the impression that you weren't okay with his handling of the situation? In fact, that first post indicates the exact opposite.

Of course you're trying to tell me that's not the point. You clearly made an attempt to excuse Moss. When I used your own words as proof of that, you responded by throwing a hissy fit and putting me on ignore.

Thanks for introducing religion into an argument about Randy Moss' handling of a catering situation. A perfect example of why some posters should only be allowed to post in the Political Cesspool.

As for you putting me on ignore. Go ahead. You're not the first to do that and I'm sure you won't be the last. You might want to download Mozilla and get FFvB though. It's awesome. It's like posters just disappear. You don't even see the ignore message.

Trust me, it's no use. Some people here are only intent on being right, the discussion at hand is meaningless. They read looking for ways to spin it to make them look right. It's all about "winning" the argument. They consistently (and frequently incorrectly) use keywords like "ad hominem", "red herring" and "logical fallacy" to sweep away anything they don't like. They will never so much as acknowledge the possibility of being wrong nor the merits of another person's POV.

There are a lot of reasons for Childress to be fired. His handling of this particular situation is not one of them, IMO. He was in between a rock and a hard place and Moss forced his hand in multiple ways. You simply don't keep someone like Moss in Minnesota on a team.

It's weird, too, because I don't see what's so interesting about this story other than the fallout - i.e., where Moss lands and how it impacts the Patriots and the rest of the NFL season. But whatever, tomorrow's going to be interesting, that's for sure. Please God don't let the Jets claim Randy.

"no way that story could be right, cause Randy races trucks and he's from WV and is not all hoighty toighty".

Are you daft man? He probably liked the food. He made a scene deliberately. WHY? Cause he's MAD. He's a child. He's immature. Whatever. It's his way of saying "RANDY IS NOT HAPPY!"

yeah, he's gets up from the table when kraft is speaking and puts on his headphones and sits at another table facing the wall. But wait!! Do you KNOW FOR SURE THERE WAS MUSIC ON THE HEADPHONES?? WE CAN'T KNOW FOR SURE! Brilliant. No, it's not rude, b/c we can't KNOW FOR SURE.

I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree on that. Managerial incompetence is a reason I'd fire a coach and I see it here in spades. If you read the Vikings fan forums, this was the reason many Chilly supporters moved into the "fire chilly" camp. I am far from the only person who felt his actions were unacceptable.

But I do agree that this is far from the only reason to fire Chilly, it is just the most recent debacle. He isn't an ideal coach and I thank my lucky stars we have BB.

Not cool Moss, not cool at all! For his sake I hope he has a reason, any reason for this besides just being snotty as it sounds. For shame.

Always liked Randy and I was giving him the benefit of doubt on the dog food issue 'cause it well coulda been Vikes propaganda spin but now I'm sad to read this first hand account from the caterer.

Given these episodes, something problematical is going on in his life that he's having a tough time handling. Maybe the Pats knew or sensed this. All I can say is that I'm concerned for his well being and wish him the best.

I definitely think Chilly's biggest mistake in this whole thing is that they did the trade in the first place. The guy just chucked a third rounder for nothing.

eta: That caterer account was very uncomfortable to read. No one should be treated like that. I really hope Randy gets a hold on whatever is going on with him because something definitely is.

Let's be honest. The caterer has everything to gain by saying Randy Moss hated the food because certain people will go find out for themselves. "No such thing as bad publicity" rings true here.

I think we could have easily gotten a second rounder for him if we didnt get rid of him so fast.THe vikings i am sure where very needy and Favre has always wanted Randy.

All publicity is good publicity. Bad publicity is the best.

Dude, just no. I think this has been verified by enough people that we have to believe it happened.`

Eh, It probably did I just don't rule out emellishment

I wish I could believe that but I just don't anymore.

Randy behaves in very strange, childish ways when he is unhappy with a situation.

What are you talking about here exactly? Are you honestly trying to say that now that it's obvious Moss had to go (as I recall you were not a fan of the trade at the time) BB must have screwed up in some other way?

Yah but as a UK guy you're inherently disqualified from commenting on food quality. There was a good reason my ancestors left that food desert.
