Per Reiss, signs point to NO:

10. One thing that stood out from the behind-the-scenes footage shot on Patriots All-Access was Bill Belichick congratulating the team after beating the Chargers and then giving a pat on the back to safety Brandon Meriweather. It had been a tough week for Meriweather after he was fined $50,000, but he earned a game ball for his performance as he bounced back from the adversity he created for himself.

Impossible, he is the the crapiest safety in the NFL.

He also got a game ball for the San Diego game. He was in the doghouse to start the season, but it appears he's found his way out.

If anything, I think the game ball and pat on the back shows that there's a very personal connection between BB and his players and vice versa. He defended Meriweather multiple times in the week that followed all of the hoopla. Meriweather responded by playing well and BB showed him that it was noticed by everyone.

It's really quite similar to the week following Spygate and how the Pats rallied around BB after the San Diego romp. This team really has an "us against the world" mentality. If any of you watching All Access, you couldn't have missed the part when they showed the post-game locker room and heard Vince say, " . . . we're a family . . ."

I don't understand why this thread has one star.

I don't understand the premise of the question. If BM is in the dog house why did he play and get praised. Then Reiss says NO so whats the point of the thread?

I don't think BB has a doghouse like some coaches do. He expects you to work and earn your minutes and I'm sure he tells you what you need to do to earn more or improve.

Butler's rehabilitating with his practice player of the week, Meriweather seems like he's been talked to about his freelancing, penalty hits and his apology, and Maroney's gone.

You're either on the bus or not IMO.

Some coaches do sour on players without explaining why, which is what a doghouse is IMO.

I think (hope) that the penalty and fine for the Heap hit delivered a wake up call to Meriweather. If he wants to be part of this promising defensive nucleus he needs to get with the program. Last week was a promising sign.
