Merged: Speculation on additional WRs

Re: Please trade for Calvin Johnson

His talents are being completely wasted with the Detriot Lions. They are 0-4 yet again and going nowhere fast. Why not offer some draft picks and maybe a disgruntled Logan Mankins to acquire a potential young stud WR?
And you expressed concern over assuming Lee Evans' contract

Re: Please trade for Calvin Johnson

You'd have to give up a ridiculous amount to pry him away from the Lions.

The Patriots are just better off improving that front seven with the picks it'll take to get CJ.

The Bills fan speaks the truth. :rocker:

Re: Please trade for Calvin Johnson

Does anyone want Lee Evans?

Re: Please trade for Calvin Johnson

Sorry to burst your bubble buddy but Matt Millen has been gone...

Indeed. Use the top 2 picks on a stud DE and OLB and with the return of Bodden and Warren, and a (or another) year of experience in the system for the young guys this defense should be championship caliber by the middle of next season, assuming theres a season.

Re: Vincent Jackson on Revis Island

I never said I didn't want Jackson. Just pointing out that Revis was all over the field in that game, so the stats are skewed.
All I was pointing out that as a trio, there's more than 200 yards of offense from the guys Revis would have spent some time on.

As a Bills fan, I've had an over-dose on bad front sevens. Our secondary can shut receivers down for only so long...

It all starts at the lines. Even though I love the Spiller pick, I wanted Rolando McClain.

Any thoughts on what it would take to pry Evans away from you guys?

Funny thing is that half the Bills fanbase wants to trade him out of frustration and the other half wants Lee Evans to play out the prime of his career on a contender.

Even though I hope Lee Evans stays a Bills forever, if he was traded to the pats (I'd die), you'd guys would have a legit deep threat for years. He's speedy, runs excellent routes, and his hands are amazing.

Re: Please trade for Calvin Johnson

This is weird. As soon as the Moss trade was completed, the Lions GM called Belichick and begged him for draft picks in exchange for Calvin Johnson. Jimmy Johnson was also trying to get Demarcus Ware into a Pats uniform. These guys are huge Pats fans and think the team could be sick with these players.

Eh, I'll pass.

We don't have to pay his bonus money. Detroit already did that.
Just his base salary which is like 2.5m this year.

As I said Lee Evan's base salary is $9M. The Pats won't take on a salary that big for a guy who has yet to make a real impact in the NFL.

I'd love Evans in a Pats uniform. Hell, at this point I would even take Roscoe Parrish.

Hahaha, right dude? I think Evans would be one hell of player on the Patriots and is certainly a "Patriots type guy" from all accounts.

Some say a third and conditional, but I'm having nothing of that. Most folks that play that card point to his abysmal numbers these pass three years, but I know the truth. His production when he had any semblance of a QB was good. He's a maniac, and would absolutely murder people with Tom Brady throwing to him.

I wouldn't do it for less than a first or two first day picks, but that might be the homer in me. Knowing our front office, you could swindle him from us with a third.

He does have a pretty big contract though. Something in the neighborhood of what Moss was making per year.

Come on. Look at his numbers and contrast them with the QB's he's had throwing him the rock. Combine that with the relatively low cost (I'm assuming) and to me, it's a no brainer.

Re: Vincent Jackson on Revis Island

2008 - Week 3 ---> 3 rec for 73 yds including 60 yarder.
2009 - Div rd of Playoffs ---> 7 rec for 111 yds

We have the picks. I'm just saying....

Also, game by game playoff performances....
2006 vs Pats ---> 2 rec for 43 yds
2007 vs Ten ---> 5 rec for 114 yds and TD
2007 vs Ind ---> 7 rec for 93 yds and TD
2007 vs Pats ---> 6 rec for 93 yds
2008 vs Pitt ---> 2 rec for 49 yds and TD
2009 vs NYJ ---> 7 rec for 111 yds (vs Revis)

We have the picks, the money and the need. In all of this guy's interviews he seems to have his head on straight. He's just made a couple mistakes as a young man. The guy can play and he plays in big games.

sorry, but Vincent Jackson was not on Revis island the entire game. When revis was covering him I actually think all revis came up with is an interception. Rex didn't really see a difference between Vincent Jackson, and Malcolm Floyd, so he let Revis play all over.

Yeah. Rivers was pretty good about making his reads in that game. He was just hitting the receiver that wasn't covered by Revis all game. When Revis would move to another receiver, Rivers would just fire to the open guy not covered by Revis. Although, obviously, he didn't do it with the amount of consistency that Manning did.

Yeah, difference is you know Evans is going to do his best to earn that. I would give a 2nd and a 5th for Evans in a blink of an eye. Hell, I'd do Mankins for Evans straight up.

Indeed, and Evans would be highly motivated if given a chance to play on a team with a real QB, a real OL, a real HC all giving him a real chance to win for once in his career.
