Rumor: Moss to Vikings?

Re: Moss for a 3rd is illogical

Just a differing opinion here...

Personally, I don't think Moss has played well at all this year, save for the one handed catch in the Jets game. I think we may be overvaluing him at this stage.

The WR corps looks great with or without Moss. I'm confident in Welker, Tate and Hernandez to pick up the slack. I'd like to see another guy come in, but I don't think Moss is the difference between playoffs or no playoffs, Super Bowl or no Super Bowl.

As for compensation, given Moss' age, I'd accept two 3rd rounders, a 2nd would be better. I don't see this deal involving a 1st round pick. Not at Moss' age, unless it is a 2012 pick.

So Tony Gonzalez at same age, a TE, 2nd round and Moss a 3rd? U mad?

The more I think about this...the more it makes sense that the trade will be Moss for Winfield. Both have high cap numbers so likely will be do-able in the very difficult to do world of NFL player trades. Minnesota is stacked at CB and has desperate need at WR, we're stacked at WR and have a desperate need at CB. If they contacted us and at the same time Randy was indicating he wanted out, followed by his somewhat odd behaviour since, this could be a classic win-win. And no, I am not saying that Winfield is equivalent to Moss in terms of talent or whatever. I am saying that this trade may well make sense for both teams given their needs and the contract situations of the two players.

In all honesty i hope not. If this trade happens i want picks. Players are ok but i just can't see us wanting winfield for any length of time like picks would. It wouldn't make sense to me trading top 5 deep threat in league for a very solid cb for a year. i dunno just not my cup of tea

Ah, yes. That great defense that everyone in the world knew would be great since they were coming off one of the best defensive seasons ever.

Perhaps in hindsight, like you are using now, this move won't seem so disastrous. I also don't think you are the one to decide what can and cannot be discussed.

The coaching staff had obviously seen what the defense was going to be like without Milloy. They knew they were going to be great. Furthermore, one could argue that the 2002 defense was just a piece or two away from being a great defense. They got that piece in Rodney. The safeties there could replace what Milloy left behind. What have you seen to make you think that anybody in this offense can replace Moss's production through four weeks? What have you seen from the run offense to make you think that they can pound the rock like they did earlier in the decade?

EDIT: Oh, and where am I saying what can and cannot be discussed? I welcome rational debate over my points. You're welcome to bring some of your own to the table at some point, as well.

thats lol .3rd round. I want to see all the homers in the firsts pages saying '' Good deal Mr.Kraft'' after demanding AP, 1st, etc .

Thanks for the memories Randy . You ll be missed.

You guys will probably go after whoever we part ways with in the off-season - Either Santonio Holmes or Braylon Edwards.

I simply cannot see the point in this if it's for a third unless Moss has become an internal issue.

Serious... a 3rd round pick? I am so underwhelmed, in my opinion a great deal for the vikings. i would have called it even as a fan at 2nd rounder

One can only think he has become an internal issue.

Initiating this trade during our bye week would only make sense if we wanted to get used to the idea that he is not here anymore.

I'd prefer picks, but a starting CB for a year wouldn't be bad compensation either. The Bodden injury really hurt our depth and a year of Winfield starting would push Butler or Arrington into a potential nickel role, where they could develop and mature without a trial by fire.

The report of just a 3rd makes me sad since we'd basically get that if he left as a FA. To me, the Vikings are more desperate to make this deal than we are. They need a deep threat, and with Brett, they're absolutely playing for today. Only acquiring a 3rd would mean we were desperate to get rid of Moss as a potential locker room distraction.

I take it you didn't watch the Cincy or the Buffalo games.

He had 2 and 3 guys on him on every down against Miami.

116 pages and am I the only one to suspect tampering?
