Moss Postgame Presser Meltdown

Not open for further replies.
Having not seen his PC and going by what's written above, this will probably be his last PC this season. Which is good for the team from a PR front but wonder about Borges' gleefully trying to rope him to his camp.

Here's wishing TB (and BB?) sit with him and have a quick chat with him tonight.

I agree with what someone earlier posted about how he gives everything for the team and yet is getting torn by some fans.

btw - some other poster mentioned that the "offense scored 38 pts". Well, the O scored 24. ST and D scored 7 each.

Hope this distraction might make the team not focus on this solid W and instead give extra attention to RM so that he lights up Revis next week and ensures that he gets a contract soon.

The Randy Moss that said he doesn't expect to return to NE is the same Randy Moss that huddled up Pats after game to celebrate opening win.

You guys are overreacting over because it is so uncharacteristic for a Pats post game interview. On almost any other team you would hear stuff this extreme any other week.

Moss was just *****ing about the media and he was right to do it. Should he have done it at that specific time? Probably not, but his message and intent was justified.

PAY THE MAN KRAFT

I was kind of looking forward to Felger and Mazz tomorrow since there were so many positives in this game. NO CHANCE IN HELL will I listen now. Felger is going to go NUTS

I think I'd let this go (along with his comments a few weeks ago) and have someone try to talk to him quietly. But if it happens again, the Pats will have to weigh their perception of the disruption he is causing against his value. This kind of distraction has never been allowed to last under Belichick and I don't think he'd let it go on very long.

I think Moss is focused for this year and he doesn't want to hear it after one bad game that he quit on the team. And since the team saved a bunch of money by not resigning Mankins, they should throw it at him. I agree with Deion (I know!) from NFLN, he is worth at least half of what Tom is getting.

I didn't find anything troubling at all in Randy's press conference. He actually was saying that he wants to go out and play "some damn good football". Sounds like a good plan to me.

I think he actually has a chance of getting an extension with the Pats. He wants one.

I just feel like he is in a lot of pain. I'm not sure it is about the Patriots or the fans. Just seems that he takes the media to heart. Count me among those who want him back. Count me, too, among those who hate the Boston media. I am a fan and prefer to hear from the players about the players than from the media about their shortcomings.

Agreed. (10 char)

theres a 3 min video of his conference here

NFL.com news: Vocal Moss says he doesn't plan to be with Pats next season

I dont know what you guys are saying, but that is no meltdown

the video ends at 3 min, it may be longer, but the first 3 mins has NO meltdown, and nothing aobut moss being either crazy, or being depressed

the guy was emotional so his thoughts were a little disjointed, but if u tried u could understand it perfectly

first off he told the media that his words right before the season about being "unhappy" will have nothing to do with his performance

he also said he WANTS to be a Patriot, he does NOT want to leave this place

from my perspective he understands what a good thing he has here, he loves it here, and hes afraid of going back to some useless organization like oakland

at some point well see how much he means that, and if hes willing to take 3mil/yr less to make that happen

it sounds like he will, im thinking the pats will extend him at some point this season for 6mil-7mil a yr, less than hell get elsewhere, but he wants to stay here.....pretty badly evidently

He's not running for President, he's in fantastic shape, he's not complaining about getting the ball.

He's one of those extremely talented people that get slammed out of jealousy and don't handle well reporters pumping you up to your face then slamming you behind your back.

Should he have not had this press conference? absolutely.

Should he talk to the media regularly, even when they are two faced and show it doesn't bother him? Even better.

Unfortunately, Belichick/Kraft are not the most media savvy, and they have to keep a negotiating poker face.

Hopefully some combination of Wilfork, Brady and Belichick/ Kraft will put this in perspective and move on.

Other teams have so many many more problems in this area. He's a sensitive guy that doesn't feel he signed up to be **** on constantly and is trying to express that he'd like to play here and thinks he's worth it, though he understands the age thing.

I dont think its a disruption to the team at all. He called out the media and the medias got their panties in a bunch and they in turn have got some fans riled. This is a non event except for the likes of Felger

Same here.

He basically said "There's going to be some bad PR around this, so let's get it over with. Among my several reasons for getting it over with, one is that I actually do want to sign a new deal with the Patriots.

Given that Moss has the anti-talent of looking bad in the media, I don't think it was a terrible choice, or that the choice says much that's bad about him.

Kraft was recently quoted as suggesting that the Patriots wound up signing the guys who really want to be here. Moss just suggested he's in that group.

And if Moss has just started a ticking clock on the Patriots' chance to re-sign him -- well, when better to do that than a few days after the Brady deal gets done??

I think the bottom line is that he got a little ticked off with all the negative crap about his "unhappy" comments and he wanted to nip it in the bud. He states that he wanted to get this out of the way now as he will not be talking to the media at all the rest of the season. He basically just wants to let it be known that when he has a bad game in the future it isn't going to be because he's "quitting" and "unhappy". Nevertheless, the media will still make it out to be that way. But at least Moss got his audio out to his fans which IMO is what he wanted to do. Now he'll be in silence the rest of the season while the media bashes him through the microscope while on their high horse.

Anyway, I don't expect the Moss hate to ever stop. The Boston media will do their best to run him out of town ala Nomar, Pedro, Manny and anyone else that dared not bow to them.

Florio has the entire transcript up, and honestly, you guys trashing him REALLY seem to be off base. He comes across, *TO ME*, as an emotional guy who really dislikes the media. He just wanted to get things straight (wants to be here, wants to feel the love) since he will not be talking to the media again. If there is one thing I can appreciate, it's honesty. And Moss speaks his mind. Good for him.

Hey Mr. Kraft: PAY THE MAN

Agreed - Now turn the tables Randy and catch at least 1 long TD over Revis next week.

The whole presser video is up at the Pats website. Nothing terribly earth-shattering. Just Randy being Randy. I kinda like the guy.

Shaughnessy just nailed him on the wearing headphones will Kraft spoke at the fundraiser thing they did last week. Hadn't heard about that til Borges's piece the other day. Couldn't believe he dissed Kraft like that.

THis was a very bad idea. Have to think the Pats were like, "Fine, suit yourself."

I don't speak Spanish.

Remember back in 06 when Pedro came back with the Mets? CHB spent like an entire week trying to get people to boo Pedro, fortunately it failed miserably.

Hey Mr. Kraft: PAY THE MAN
I will go read the transcript...BUT I had a LOT to post as the site crashed...and I want to post those that I had...because I agree more with you...The media IS being the ones who are blowing this all over the place..from Channel 5's calling it an outburst....which is NOT even close to true..to Lynch proclaiming "Nothing good is coming from this.." TO the fact that these mediots have done exactly what he said they would..BLOW it all out of proportion and twist it...NAIL ON HEAD!!!! What I wrote a few hours ago...

I think he wanted to straighten a few things out...and he tried..BUT I do not think he succeeded...and that is sad. Randy is a very complex individual..I really feel that...He does wear his heart on his sleeve...too much so but that is him.. I think the media doesn't have a clue about him..really,,and neither does this board. BUT that is OK...the media will pound the **** out of him..THEY love him and will exploit him..day in day out. He doesn't care about what is written..he KNOWS whatever he says will be twisted...Already some of the **** are twisting what he said...so HE in many ways correct..hitting the nail on the head.
Many say he has detracted from the win...Did any even listen to what he said about that issue??? OR did you NOT REALLY hear what he said..???? I think he wanted to address what was said about his "unhappiness"...THAT was what motivated him...BUT I also think he will be fine going forward. He doesn't want to have a PC every week...Curran asked him about that.. HE has NO INTEREST in that and can you blame him?? He cares about football..THAT is what he cares about and works on. The media wants an easy job..handed it all to them on a silver platter. SO unless you do that..the media itself will pile on you. AND I detest the **** that who do that.. He mentioned about people wanting him NOT to succeed...and THERE ARE those like that..there was smug Felger';s face FRONT and center. There are many like that.....
I am surprised at the board..like lemmings piling on him..just like they were led to pile on Kraft by Mankins and company. Brainless..reactive and quickly full of judgement.. led around
like sheep.....I'm quite embarrassed...miner leaguers.

Remember back in 06 when Pedro came back with the Mets? CHB spent like an entire week trying to get people to boo Pedro, fortunately it failed miserably.

Pisses me off everytime Sox fans boo Manny. Guy wins a World Series MVP for us, apologized for how things ended with the team, and that's boo-worthy how? As negative as the media is, way too many of the fans just eat it all up. I'm glad that Randy called out a lot of the fans in that way, although it's not going to win him any PR points.

I think you need to assess what you are saying..do you NOT see who is blowing this out of proportion??? Who is using him all the time?? sheep...led around by teh mediots...it's happening HERE with Mankins and company against Kraft...and here...with randy..I REALLY detest teh local media here..with the exception of a few..MOST I think could be gone...and no one would miss them...NO ONE!!! slugs at best... poisonous snakes at other times...

It's definitely very, very helpful for Tom to come to my defense saying that he wants me because I love playing here. I don't want to leave here.

And from Moss's press conference itself.

Come on, guys -- Moss has millions of dollars on the line, arguably tens of millions. If he wants to do a bit of public negotiating, that's his right.
