Not a great lineup of games today, but some pretty good ones.

Definitely rooting for the Texans over the C-words - -though I had forgotten that Cushing is suspended for four games.

Miami and Buffalo: I'm holding out hopes the Bills will split with both Miami and NYJ this year; with some signs of disarray on the Dolphins, maybe today will be the start of that.

Outside the division: Go Falcons (at Pitt), Giants (I know, but vs Carolina), and Ten (vs Oak).

Looking forward to hitting the Red Zone channel during Pats commercials and during the 4:00 games.

Will be intrested in the Packers and Eagkles game.See if the Packers are really that good and see if Klob is the real deal. The 49'ers and the Seahawks to see Petes official return to the NFL.

Of the one oclock games, will have my eye on the Atlanta-Pittsburgh game--should be a tight one, and important to us. And of course will be rooting for Buffalo. Dallas at Wash tonite will be very interesting. And then of course the game of the week on Monday nite.

Indy at Houston interest me. If Indy wins on the road there, give them the division again. If Houston wins, maybe it gives them the confidence they can compete at a high level. There's a lot of talent on that Texans team. But, they're something like 1-17 against the Mannings.

Oakland at Tennessee - At the time we made the Seymour trade it looked like we would definately get a Top 5 pick. I'm not sure the Raiders have improved all that much. Other than getting rid of Jamarcus Russell. The rest of the AFC West seems to make one questionable personnel move after another and have all regressed. I have put the Kahuna Curse on the Raiders though to ease everyone's mind.

I get Indy-Hou so I'll be watching that as well only to see how Manning is as I haven't payed any attention to him in the pre-season

I hear there's a growing disconnect between him and the owner ...

Well..to me THIS is the game...I am sure other Patriot fans feel the same...BUT obviously keeping an eye on all others particularly Colts-Texans Titans-Raiders...Falcons-Steelers...Dolphins-Bills.....BUT really MORE focused on the home team....as usual. ALl the games count and mean something in this first week...Who will fall on their face?? Who will surprise??

Even though the Pats-Bengals is the best of the early games and the only one I'll be focused on, there are some interesting topics on other games.

  • Colts at Texans: Do the Colts pick up from where they were late last season (undefeated), or do they suffer from the Super Bowl hangover myth? How will Houston's defense hold up without Brian Cushing?
  • Dolphins at Bills: Division games are always of interest. Let's see how the new players, Miami's Brandon Marshall and Buffalo's CJ Spiller do.
  • Falcons at Steelers: Pittsburgh failed to make the playoffs last year after entering the season as a favorite to go to the Super Bowl. Now Dennis Dixon is their starting quarterback and Santonio Holmes is gone. Meanwhile many are picking Atlanta to win the NFCS over the Saints; for that to happen Matt Ryan needs to improve on last year's play.
  • Broncos at Jaguars: Do we see the Denver team that started so hot in 2009, or the one that faded down the stretch? If Orton struggles does Tebow come in?
  • Packers at Eagles: Many are picking Green Bay to go to the Super Bowl; I think for that to happen the offensive line needs to do a better job in pass protection. For Philly the big question is how they will do with Kevin Kolb.
  • Cowboys at Redskins: Will it be the same old Redskins, or will Donovan McNabb and Mike Shanahan change things for Washington?
  • Lions at Bears: Mostly of interest because the Pats play both these teams later this year, but I want to know if either Cutler or Stafford improve over last season's performance.
  • Raiders at Titans: The Pats own Oakland's first round draft pick, so they are of interest to pats fans. Teams have been able to run at will in the last few years on the raiders, and the Titans' Chris Johnson was the best RB in the NFL last year.
