To be perfectly honest, I'm a little disgusted by some of the comments I'm reading on here regarding Randy Moss. Since the day he arrived in New England he's been nothing but an absolute beast on the field and has shown time and time again his appreciation for the fans off the field. Our hall of fame bound quarterback thinks he's the best receiver he has ever played with and in their first year together they tore the record book to shreds. He played through a significant portion of last year's season with a separated shoulder and still put up elite numbers for his position. He comes into training camp and apparently looks better than ever and still gives it up to the fans whenever he gets the chance. And the best you can offer him is shutup, dog and go score TDs, bitch?

What has Randy ever done during his time here that could possibly lead to some of the hate he receives from Pats fans? He's hands down our best wideout and has done nothing but dominate since he got here. Hell, without Randy the Wes Welker you and I are familiar with today would be no where near as dominant.

Let's be honest, Brady isn't the only one who deserves a little better from this organization - Randy deserves to be paid, too and he has a right to feel unhappy about the Pats apparent lack of interest beyond this season.

I have no doubt that some of what was said in this thread were just sarcastic, trolling comments... But unfortunately, there is a very real portion of Patriot fans out there that won't give Randy Moss his due.

BB and Brady would love to have Moss back on the team.


At what cost is the big question. That is up to Randy.
If he would rather have the ring and good money vs LOTS of money and any team then the Pats may be able to work something out with him.

Take care of TB first and then deal with Moss' situation. Just hope they keep communications open (unlike Mankins).

The BB philosophy is no player is bigger than the team, how many times have we seen this over the years? The answer is numerous. BB has a budget that he is willing to pay for any given position and the further you are from the ball the less he is willing to pay. It doesn't get much further from the ball than WR.

That is the philosophy right or wrong and the one that BB will stick with come hell or high water. If Moss is looking for a huge pay day its not going to happen with the Pats regardless of what he has accomplished here over the last 3 seasons, in BB's mind the past is the past and he has been paid for that.

It is that exact philosophy that keeps the Patriots competitive year in and year out.

Note I am not saying I completely agree with it but it was it is and as patsfans you can get upset with it and become bitter or simply enjoy watching a competitive team every year even though they might not be as dominant as they have been in the past. I know this BB wants to win and tries everything in his power to do that adhering his system almost to a fault. He has made some boneheaded mistakes personnel wise IMHO but after having followed this team since Jim Plunkett was the QB, he is light years better than any other Mgt/Coaching team that has been at the helm.

I'll give Randy his due. He shines against bad teams, doesn't show up in the playoffs, dogs on plays, will never outfight a DB for the ball, pouts if things don't go his way, been a bad influence on the QB (Tom used to see the whole field and find the open receiver - now he's forcing throws into double coverage to binky and costing the team games - see Miami last year), has HOF numbers and he's never won a damn thing in the NFL.

You're taking it way too personally for Randy.

You remember Jerry Rice, the only guy that compares to Randy? Well, he had a legendary training regimen. And at age 34, Rice had largely lost his great ability. So, at the age of 34 going on 35, you have to be careful if you're the Patriots.

Personally I wouldn't be against the Patriots tacking on 1 more year for Randy, but are you certain Randy would accept an additional year? It may make more sense for him to ask for 2 more.

The Patriots have in the past shelled out big bucks for a star on his last legs (Corey Dillon). I think Corey got to old for the last year of his contract, but the Patriots definitely paid him. I can see Randy's point-of-view and I'm not bothered by it. People are overreacting to the headline writer. Randy said, I feel unwanted. That's a little softer than what the headline is saying.

BB also had high praise for Derek Burgess. Btw when have you ever heard Tom Brady trash a teammate?? Him praising Moss is what Tom does. If you don't think Moss dogs then you're not actually watching the games. It's all there on film. You can love the guy but please don't claim what we all actually see with our own eyes is not really happening. Question with Moss this season is will he be happy in a ball control offense?
This offense MUST help out this young defense by limiting their time on the field. Only time we need a quick strike bomb is in the 2 minute offense when we're behind.

I like the idea of 2 year with a 3rd option. The 2 years might be when he decides to end his career, or the option year would most likely be his last. I can't see him still being around then.

Moss was clearly unhappy when he was playing for Oakland?

Why? Was it money?

Nope. His contract called for him to receive $9.75 million in 2007 and $11.25 million in 2008.

He gave that up to come to New England to win a Super Bowl that's yet to be achieved and made much of that up after 2007 with his new $27 million contract (though he most certainly was posturing for money at that time.)

But even if things have changed and money is now more important than wins, it goes without saying that Moss does himself no favors by "dogging it" in a contract year.

Mike Florio and CBS Sports alike might want to do a bit more research before they equate Moss' attitude in Oakland or here with lack of salary.
