Only three players picked were 2nd round value per Gosselin: Best (35), Robinson (37) and Tebow (44).
======================
Only ONE player with a value 29 or under failed to be drafted in the first: Clausen (13). Safford (30) and Kindle (32) also weren't picked.
======================
Only Alualu and Tebow stand out as HUGE reaches. There was a lot of trading around because many teams understand VALUE.
======================
The patriots had the choices I hoped they'd have at 22: between Odrick, Wilson, and McCurty (others hoped that Kindle would also be an option). Not only that, Belichick picked up a 3rd rounder and still ended up with the same choice. Not bad! This is similar to last year. Last year, many of us would have picked Butler at 22 as belichick might have with no tradde down. Belichick traded down and waited. This year, I expect that the choice would have been McCurty at 22.

Belichick said that it would have been McCurty at #22. That's why they moved back twice. They thought they could get the same player five picks later and pick up a 3rd rounder for taking him five spots later.

Tomorrow four players from this list (because so far Gosslin has been spot on) will be joining Devin McCourty as NEP. Clausen of course is not one of them. Kindle may still not be since he has medical concerns. Areas of need appear to be DE, OLB, WR, TE, OL, RB. NE current picks are 44, 47, 53, 90. They will have several additional picks on Saturday beginning at 114.

A lot of really talented players still on the board. But I would love to see the Pats sucker someone into their 2 for a 1 next year. That would give them three first round picks with scaled rookie contracts.

I don't think there's a chance in hell they'll be taking 4 players tomorrow. Two is more likely with the other picks pushed into 2011 or later in this year's draft.

I know we need defense, but man, if we could end up with the following list today, I'd be thrilled: Golden Tate, Gerhart, Aaron Hernandez, and Kindle. Of course that won't happen, but man, that would be nice.

I don't think there's a chance in hell they'll be taking 4 players tomorrow. Two is more likely with the other picks pushed into 2011 or later in this year's draft.

Why on earth would they want to push quality picks into later rounds when they already have 13 picks??

If anything, I would expect them to use their 4 picks today, and their early 4th, to slide around in the second and third to grab players they like, possible losing a pick or two in the process. To me, it looks like there a lot of quality players in the 33-43 range that they may want to move up for.

If they take Toby or the Tates I might wet myself.

Let's not forget about these runs on postions...cb already happended..now you will see OT w. Safford.Brown.Campbell then will be the two qb' Clausen and McCoy..so those 5 will go quite quickly imo.. leaving some studs available..can't wait to see what bb has up his sleeve.

There was NOT a run on cornerbacks. There have been predicted as first round quality for weeks. And then Jackson flew up the boards. As of yesterday morning, most of us had little doubt that four corners would be chosen in the first.

I was surprised that one of Safford and brown wasn't in th first.

I disagree.. yes you had Jackson to Hou but you then had 3 subsequent picks of cb in 5 slots.. in the last part of round 1...

I'm not saying that they weren't first round picks.. what I am saying is that when teams see a perceived value position of top players coming off the board they make there moves quickly..

A lot of really talented players still on the board. But I would love to see the Pats sucker someone into their 2 for a 1 next year. That would give them three first round picks with scaled rookie contracts.

But next year's draft will be weaker than this year's since a lot of juniors came out this year...

And the second half of the first round should not look that different than the second half of next year's first round. The scaling is mostly to change things up in the first half of the draft.

So, if you trade a day 2 pick for next year, you better be on your game and make sure it is with a team that is definitely going to be crappy.

By all means, trade a 2nd with the Rams.

This is the sweet spot of the draft. We get four picks.

The open question is how many pro-ready players we can find. After all we are trying to replace or upgrade Green, Burgess, Thomas and Watson.

in round 2 I'd be happy with any of these:

32. Sergio Kindle OLB Texas
34. Rob Gronkowski TE Arizona
36. Brian Price DT UCLA
40. Koa Misi DE Utah
41. Golden Tate WR Notre Dame
42. Daryl Washington OLB TCU

Brilliant way to put it!:rocker:

For those thinking we reached for our guys. Look where he had them rated compared to where they were taken.

27 McCourty - 24
42 Gronk -34
53 Cunningham - 94
62 Spikes - 77
90 Price -75
113 Hernandez -53

This is just one man's board. Doesn't mean he's right. Just showing this to point out to all our gurus that the most respected draft reporter in the country shows we didn't reach for anyone except maybe Cunningham. If we knew his real 40 time, I'm sure he would have been rated higher. He pulled up doing his because of injury.

We got 6 of the top 94 players on Gosselin's board AND we got Carolina's 2nd next year. Unbelievable job.
