My top 4 picks

Everyone has their own mock draft and here is mine. More of a wish list than a prediction. Patriots need guys that could contribute right away and these picks can.

22: Jared Odrick, DE. This guy can step right in and play Seymour's role on the defensive line.
44: Golden Tate, WR. I think that this guy would be a perfect fit in New England. Playing for Weis at Notre Dame has probably prepared him for the NFL by playing in a pro-style offense.
47: Ricky Sapp, OLB. At 6'4", 252, he seems to be the size that Belichick wants in an OLB.
53: Ben Tate, RB. He is a tough, physical runner that would do well in New England. Belichick could probably trade down to the early third round to get Tate, and pick up a second round on next years draft. He likes to stockpile second rounders in every draft.

I would not cry if our draft winds up like this. Definitely some great atheletes for the pats in this crew.

I would. Odrick is a classic high-floor/low-ceiling pick, Golden Tate is good at 44 but Sapp is a bust and Ben Tate is both a reach at 53, and a boom/bust prospect.

Yeah, I still haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise. The Pats worked him out extensively so they should know if he has any potential or not.

I agree about Odrick too. I'm still not convinced he'll be as great as Seymour/Warren is in a 2-gap 3-4.

Sapp is considered one of the more athletic pass rushers in the draft. Hard to consider him a bust even before he gets drafted. Belichick did work him out for 6 hours, so they did get a good look at him. I did say that the Patriots could trade down to the third round to get Tate, where he is not considered a reach. I would prefer Tate to Jahvid Best. Tate would be a more powerful inside runner, which the Patriots need. Best is a speedster that is more effective outside, much like Maroney.

Maybe as good as Warren. There's no doubting his determination or motor. But I don't think he has "it", which is why the constant Seymour comparisons make me die a little inside.

Senior year: 5 sacks, recovering from ACL but played all 14 games

There's just nothing special there. The only reason we're talking about him are his measurables, which is no problem in itself, but without production it doesn't really mean very much.


As for Tate, I just get the feeling that he'll be a plodder in the NFL. No more arm tackles to break through, far fewer busted schemes to exploit. Doesn't really seem to do anything special. You can gamble in the late 3rd on Tate but I just don't feel it.

He also had 41 tackles for losses and 54 QB pressures. Richard Seymour, on the other hand, had 9.5 sacks, 25.5 tackles for loss, and 35 QB pressures in his college career. I'm not saying he will be better than Seymour, but his stats aren't that bad.

im a big fan of Jared Odrick, but he is not seymour, i don't even think that suh, will be as good as seymour, Odrick, is more of a warren, type. just a good football player for the next 10 years.


golden tate, is deion branch, 2.0 he will give you 70 to 80 rec 800 to 900 yerds and 4td's per year so i like this pick he's not my #1 WR but ill take him


Ricky Sapp, would only be a 3rd down pass rusher he's first few years in the NFL so 30 tackles and 6 sacks a year for hes first 2 or 3 years not bad.


Ben Tate, he would add some youth to the pats 4 man rotation. at RB so i like it.
