Ummmm.... Resiging Wilfork and Bodden weren't big moves? I know it was keeping players, but they were pretty substantial moves none-the-less.

That question alone makes me think the story is either a smokescreen, or it's another team. First of all it's almost impossible to predict who will or will not be available at that spot. Even if the trade is contingent on that player still being available, I can't think of somebody the Pats would be that hot for to move up to #8, or willing to give up that much for. This is certainly interesting. If it IS the Pats, who do you guys think that BB has his eye on?
but in all honesty, the pats could have had the raiders 1st rounder this year for seymour. we could have gotten the raiders pick this year AND kept all 3 second rounders. I think the pats are now afraid the raiders are going to get McNabb and actually be good or at least better than 4-12.
As much as I like Suh, it wouldn't make sense. We just signed Wilfork to a hefty contract and I really can't see Suh getting passed Tampa.
No
those were expected moves that even someone without a fully functioning brain would have made happen.
BB probably wouldn't make a move like this until he was on the clock. The only way this makes sense is if he's then planning to move up again for Suh.
Or maybe he really, really wants an OT like Williams.
If you look at the number of pre-draft draft choice trades – not player for draft choice, but straight draft choice trades – you won’t find very many of them. Probably the last one would be when Jimmy Johnson and I made one in 1992 or 1993, a couple days before the draft. Teams don’t like to do it. I am personally comfortable doing it, but most teams don’t like to do it.
hopefully they don't waste it on Tebow

I say its the jets. They will try to get eric berry. Typical tannenbaum move, the media will praise it etc etc. People talk as if the jets are so smart. Yet Braylon Edwards, Cromartie, Revis (opt out), Ferguson, and Mangold are all free agents after this year. And their constant trading of picks has left them with no depth at all.
Plus tannenbaum has had the 6th pick overall 2 years in a row and picked a complete bust in Gholston and a qb who was one of the worst statistically last year, despite a great line, run game and defense.
Really? Two weeks before free agency there were plenty of people on this board predicting that Wilfork's career with the Pats would end like Asante Samuel and some even predicted that Wilfork would sit out the first 10 games of the 2010 season. And I am not even talking about all the pessimistic loons on this board. Many of the rational people on this board were predicting this.
Once Bodden hit free agency, the majority of the people on this board felt he was gone.
Sorry, they were two significant offseason moves by the Pats. They might not be sexy like acquiring Peppers, but they were big moves none the less.
We seem to be saying the same things...nice to see someone else who knows what he is talking about
As far as the Pats go, the players that would be available then - OT Trent Williams and Anthony Davis, ILB Rolando McClain, DE Jason Pierre-Paul and Derrick Morgan and Brandon Graham, etc. - I just don't see any of them as being so much better than other players available later that the Pats would give up a 1st and a 2nd to get him.
Just a nitpick, but "not being done making big moves"? The next "big" move they make this offseason will be the first.
