1 QB not feeling well and a TE must be difficult

how about #1 in the NFL for guys on IR, no sympathy here
ll 12 are starters
13 Harper, Rod WR 6-0 209 24 1 Murray State
24 Torrence, Leigh CB 5-11 179 27 4 Stanford
35 Jones, Reggie CB 6-0 193 23 R Portland State
37 Vaughn, Chip S 6-2 221 24 R Wake Forest
44 Evans, Heath FB 6-0 250 30 9 Auburn
53 Simoneau, Mark LB 6-0 245 32 10 Kansas State
59 Arnoux, Stanley LB 6-0 232 23 R Wake Forest
70 Brown, Jammal T 6-6 313 28 5 Oklahoma
71 Clancy, Kendrick DT 6-1 305 31 10 Mississippi
83 Miller, Billy TE 6-3 252 32 10 Southern California
84 Woods, D'Juan WR 6-1 210 25 1 Oklahoma State
Campbell, Dan TE 6-5 265 33 11 Texas A&M

We also lost bush, greer, fujita, porter, bell, moore, ellis for 3-4 games this
year.

How in the world can you call guys who HAVE YET TO MAKE THEIR NFL DEBUT a starter? How does that happen?

Rod Harper - Yet to debut in NFL, NOT a starter, and NOT a big deal
Leigh Torrence - 3rd String CB, NOT a starter, not a big deal
Reggie Jones - Yet to debut in NFL, NOT a starter, not a big deal
Chip Vaughn - Yet to debut in NFL, NOT a starter, not a big deal
Heath Evans - Blocking FB, Eckel is pretty much the same thing, not a big deal
Mark Simoneau - hasn't played since '07, isn't an impact player
Stanley Arnoux - Yet to debut in NFL, NOT a starter, NOT a big deal
Jammal Brown - starting LT
Kendrick Clancy - starting NT
Billy Miller - 2nd/3rd string TE, not a big deal AT ALL. Shockey and Thomas are fine
D'Jual Woods - Pretty much yet to debut in NFL, not a starter, not a big deal

So you have basically 2 starters on the IR, along with some 2nd/3rd stringers and rookies. Non are impact players. The volume sucks, but it's far better than losing 2 or 3 of your best players.

pherein, out of this list you have provided, who are absolutely critical to the success or failure of the Saints and who are the JAGS in your opinion?

Harper really messed up our CB spot and so the defense had to shift.
Torrence another CB lost , now we have to play a rookie young to cover that spot, both these CB loses will kill us on the short pass.
Evans he is really our only full back so our power up the middle is depleted
Brown, Jammal we have new guys shifting into that spot but brown has hurt us in sack on the left side.
Miller, Billy was our best TE better than shockey
Bush = he is are closer and decoy
greer = what can you say another good CB out
fujita = very good LB same side as ellis, so we lost allot of run plays with these guys out
porter = another good CB short pass coverage just gets worse
bell = With evan gone no real pounding threat
moore = #1 receiver last year huge
ellis = same side as fugita teams ran on us all day.

MY JAGS:
Moore, he is our welker. Bell and Bush at the same time killed the 3 headed dragon so that was huge, and then Ellis and fujita both leaving at the same time really hurt the defense when the CB started to get injured. I mean on defense if we lost one or the other that would be ok but we lost both .

I know your not familiar with how this team rotates but these are all starters. Torrence was just hurt last week vs the Bucs, so I have no idea where your getting hes 3rd string, or Jones was hurt in the jets game , sorry no idea where your getting this info. All of these guys were hurt this season

I can make up a bull**** list like that too!
NE IR list:
George Bussey - drafted tackle, he would have been important, I swear!
Shawn Crable - 2nd year OLB who has yet to play but was expect to contribute, LB depth much needed right now
Tyrone McKenzie - Rookie LB who was to make an impact
Brandon Tate - Rookie WR who was to be our return man/ 3rd or 4th receiver
Chris Taylor - 3rd year RB, important depth

What are we going to do without those rookies!

As for other injuries,
Mayo (arguable are best defensive player) missed 3 games
Welker missed 2 games
Edelman missed 3 games
Fred Taylor (our best RB) has missed 6 games
Sammy Morris (our second best RB) has missed 5 games
Matt Light has missed 5 games
Jarvis Green (important LB) has missed 3 games
Jon Wilhite has missed 2 games
ETC

You can do this with EVERY team. The Saints haven't had any impact players go on the IR or even miss much time. Get real.

Torrence is listed as the 3rd string CB by... THE DEPTH CHART!!! Imagine that! He hasn't started a game and has only appeared in 5 games this season. Yeah, he's a starter... And I have no idea where you are getting your info, because Reggie Jones has yet to play an NFL game, not the Jets game nor any other. It's physically impossible for a rookie who has yet to play in the NFL... to get injured in an NFL game... Make sense?

with all respect that is not a true statement and I have no way to counter it seeing as you know very little about the saints.

example: you know very little about lance moore and his impact, so I don't see how you can understand any impact to this team. Becomes a mute argument

correct hes a starter now hes on IR

correct hes a starter now hes on IR

The depth chart was PRIOR to him being placed on the IR. Do you not understand what "NOT" playing 5 games means? If he was a starter, he would be given credit as such... he hasn't.

So the best player on the Pats defense missing 3 games is of far less impact than Moore? Is that what you are trying to say? Moore is a decent receiver who had a good year last year, but he is your 3rd WR who really hasn't done much this year.

You couldn't possibly know the depth of my knowledge of the Saints, saying I know "very little" about them is as arrogant and naive as it gets.

your statement is inflammatory and your misunderstanding of key players on the saints is obvious like moore shows it, hes more important than colston.
This boy eats footballs and Im sure sense hes playing BB knows it.

This name of this thread is five keys to victory and we have two pages about Saints players that have been injured. Any chance you can start a new thread for this rubbish and get a mod to move all the err relevant mud to that thread.

This was an excellent thread but its turned into a joke.

5 obvious keys to victory

1. Play like the #1 offense is supposed to play

2. Protect Drew Brees

3. Get pressure on Brady

4. Play like the defense that is #1 in takeaways- and take it away

5. Dome field advantage

You don't seem so angry to me.

You had a smiley at the end of your post.

*Thinks to himself might as well get involved in this as the thread is ruined long ago.

Being a Saints fan through the years has made me angry, nothing personal.

I agree that if we outrush the saints, we will win. What odds would you lay on that happening?

Belichick takes one thing away. You suggest taking away the running game and make the saints one-dimensional. How would you do that? Somehow, it doesn't seem right for us to stress run defense over pass defense against the best passer in the league for the past two years, especially when he has as many weapons as he has.

I thought I'd give this one a whack. My 5:

1. Win the turnover battle. Both teams are oppotunistic. The Saints lead the NFL in turnovers with 29, the Pats are 3rd with 22. Over the past 5 games the Pats lead the NFL with 16 turnovers. The Pats are 2nd in turnover differential at +12, the Saints 4th at +10. The Saints have produced a whopping 566 yards on 20 INT returns, and have scored 7 TDs directly on turnovers (5 INTs and 2 fumbles); the Pats, only 1, but that came last week. Whichever team wins this battle will have a decided edge. On offense, the Pats need to avoid costly mistakes and big negative plays. They can't kill drives with costly turnovers, and if they do turn the ball over they have to stop the Saints from making the big gain and force the Saints offense to work for points. On defense, they have to stay aggressive and make plays; and the Pats need to turn those opportunities into points. The good news for the Pats is that the Saints offense has been prone to turnovers.

2. Control the TOP. The Pats currently rank 1st in TOP at 34:43, the Saints 7th at 32:21. The Pats need to keep the Saints offense off the field and limit their opportunities. The Saint's defense is 7th in the league in limiting 3rd down conversions, at 34.5%. The Pats offense is 6th in converting 3rd downs, at 45.7%. How the Pats do to convert on 3rd (and 4th) down and keep drives alive will be important. Being able to run the ball effectively will also be important. If the Pats outrush the Saints, I think the Pats win.

3. Red Zone Execution. This is perhaps the biggest key, on both sides of the ball. The Saints defense gives up yards and points, but makes big plays and is 5th in red zone defense. The Pat's offense ranked 25th in red zone efficiency going into the Jets game. Conversely, the Pats defense rank 2nd in PPG but 28th in red zone defense.

4. Stop the Run. The Saints have too many weapons to shut down. But they've been running for over 150 yards per game. That's too much, in addition to Drew Brees. The Pats need to slow the Saints running attack and make them beat us in the air. Then they become more one-dimensional. If the Saints can run at will, then it will be a long day for the Pats defense. The Pats slowed NY's league-leading rushing attack last week, so they can do it.

5. Play for 60 minutes. We have to avoid mental lapses. We have to avoid special teams breakdowns. And above all we have to come out on fire in the 2nd half and play our guts out on both sides of the ball. No 3rd quarter absences if we want to win this game. Like the Colts, the Saints are a team that we could easily beat for 3 quarters and lose the game.

If the Pats do win the game, I think the person who may have had the most to do with it outside of the players on the field will be Peyton Manning. Our biggest advantage over the Saints is that we've already been battle tested (and scarred) against a top offense. They've never faced an offense like ours.
