Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third, fifth
That is such a ridiculous trade, AGAIN, by Mangini. Wow. Great job by the jets.
What, I feel the exact opposite. I think this is a very good trade by the Mangina. I don't think it's a great trade by the Jets, but its not a terrible trade (though, it could be). I's very much High risk/ high reward. Certainly is a seemingly high compensation for him too.
I like this trade for Cleveland, they get a decent young receiver who has been getting steadily better. Those two draft picks may not be very high, but they give Cleveland some useful tools for draft day maneuvers. Cleveland dumps a problem child and gets some useful tools in return, it costs Mangini nothing to dump a problem from the Savage years to improve his cellar dwellers.
....... and low an behold, a couple post's down someone articulates it for me.
BE was a terrible locker room drain and so far this year he has 10 catches (less then Stuckey) and Masaqui (??) is doing real well so far. They weren't winning with Edwards and he wasn't gonna be there next year. Plus a major distraction with his off field antics.
They pick up a JAG, and a guy who is equalling Edwards production so far this year and was on track for a 45 catch, 500 yd season, 4 TD season (a little less then where BE was last year, but better then Cleveland's #2 guy last year). Plus some chips to bring to the table next year. Very good move.
What do the Jets get? A major PITA, talented (but underproducing) prima-donna WR with one monster year under his belt, and a bunch of crappy ones (for a #1 WR). Certainly not elite level. Plus, he drops A LOT of balls.
He thinks he's elite, and he's walking unless he get's big money (Jets will pay him).
He'll produce some this year, but it will take some time to jel with Sanchez. Jets are hanging their hat on 2007, but more likely that are looking at a guys much closer to the other 4 years of his career. If that's the case, they get a 55 catch, 800 yds, 4-5 TD guy. Basically nut much more than what Stuckey ALONE would have given them.
Suspect deal.
