I like how Mike Greenberg on ESPN couldn't contain his glee at the news.

Yeah, he is objective when it comes to commenting on the Patriots.

Jesus, I thought Mangini being fired would be the end of him being a significant pain in the ass, but now hes given the Jets Sanchez and Edwards for Peanuts. Phuck you Eric

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third, fifth

They will put up points now.I hate Mangini, he is terrible!

At least Greenberg admits that he is a JEST fan.

Yes, you get the glee. . . . but you also get to see him be miserable at times, too.

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third, fifth

Why would Mangini care about getting a better pick next year?

He knows he won't be there anymore.

I still find it hard to believe he's doing any of this in spite of Belichick. Surely he'd hate the man who fired him more than the man who made him significant?

Every Jets fan I know is dismayed about the deal, thinking Stuckey was better than Edwards, let alone two picks and another player and a huge contract. And the Browns couldn't wait to get rid of Edwards. The Browns. Take that for what it's worth.

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third, fifth

I think the Jets made out on that deal. They basically gve up late picks and marginal players for a player with a ton of potential. There is no doubt Edwards is a better reciever then Stuckey and Cotchery so it's a WIN for the Jets. Also at this point if Edwards is playing for a contract next season expect him to go hard and do what he can to get one.

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third, fifth

Stuckey better then Edwards?Edwards has no choice but to make plays if he wants a contract.Mangenius will be fired after next season.

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third, fifth

That is such a ridiculous trade, AGAIN, by Mangini. Wow. Great job by the jets.

What, I feel the exact opposite. I think this is a very good trade by the Mangina. I don't think it's a great trade by the Jets, but its not a terrible trade (though, it could be). I's very much High risk/ high reward. Certainly is a seemingly high compensation for him too.

I like this trade for Cleveland, they get a decent young receiver who has been getting steadily better. Those two draft picks may not be very high, but they give Cleveland some useful tools for draft day maneuvers. Cleveland dumps a problem child and gets some useful tools in return, it costs Mangini nothing to dump a problem from the Savage years to improve his cellar dwellers.

....... and low an behold, a couple post's down someone articulates it for me.

BE was a terrible locker room drain and so far this year he has 10 catches (less then Stuckey) and Masaqui (??) is doing real well so far. They weren't winning with Edwards and he wasn't gonna be there next year. Plus a major distraction with his off field antics.

They pick up a JAG, and a guy who is equalling Edwards production so far this year and was on track for a 45 catch, 500 yd season, 4 TD season (a little less then where BE was last year, but better then Cleveland's #2 guy last year). Plus some chips to bring to the table next year. Very good move.

What do the Jets get? A major PITA, talented (but underproducing) prima-donna WR with one monster year under his belt, and a bunch of crappy ones (for a #1 WR). Certainly not elite level. Plus, he drops A LOT of balls.

He thinks he's elite, and he's walking unless he get's big money (Jets will pay him).

He'll produce some this year, but it will take some time to jel with Sanchez. Jets are hanging their hat on 2007, but more likely that are looking at a guys much closer to the other 4 years of his career. If that's the case, they get a 55 catch, 800 yds, 4-5 TD guy. Basically nut much more than what Stuckey ALONE would have given them.

Suspect deal.

It was all probably a conspiracy between the Jets, Mangini and the Commish to screw the Pats:

Commish: I really hate those Pats. I wish there was some way to screw them.

Woody: Well, I'm thinking of firing "Mangenious". Maybe we could figure out some way to use him to mess things up. He's real good at that.

Commish: Good idea. What if I lean on Cleveland to hire him. Lerner's an idiot and Mangini's a snake oil salesman. Lerner will probably think Mangini's a genious with some great "blueprint" to fix the team. That'll give 2 easy wins a year to Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Plus, Cleveland has a bunch of draft picks and a few decent players, who will all be pissed off within a few months. We can probably convince Mangini to trade all his assets cheaply to the Jets.

Mangini: Sounds like a good deal to me. I'll do anything to stay in power somewhere.

Woody: Make it so. Hey, do you think we might be able to steal Crabtee away from San Fran at the same time? We need a WR.

Commish: I'll work on it. Just don't make it too obvious, so I don't have to slap you if you get caught.

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third, fifth

Edwards too me will be motivated, i think he will put up the stats. He gave up nothing on their defense which to me is light years away better then our D.

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets...

My guess is Edwards' latest incident and an 0-4 start made the Browns drop their asking price. He gets into a bar fight on Saturday night, the league announces they will investigate the incident on Wednesday, and he is traded on Thursday.

Expect major Jets fan Comissioner Clouseau to close that 'investigation' quietly

Here is the way I look at it Cousins. Would you rather have Edwards or Galloway on the opposite side of Moss and Welker?
I think the Jets stole a player we will have to contend with for years. He is still young.
Were the Pats ever in contention for him?
Aren't the Browns hurt a bit at RB? I was thinking Maroney and a pick (4th) to the Browns in a swap of two major underachievers. We would all make that trade

The Galloway signing was a flop. I am thinking Bolden next year for the Pats.

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third, fifth

I aint giving up on Galloway yet but we need production from that 3rd receiver for this offense to get going more.Moss will continue to see double coverage

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets...

Cause Rex Ryan is a little girl and he needs a big man to make his defense feel safe.
If rex ryan was so confident in his defense he wouldnt need to make this move.

Dumb, just plain dumb.

So the coach shouldn't make trades to improve his team because it shows that he lacks confidence in his team? Maybe we should never have traded for Randy Moss and Wes Welker either. I guess that meant that Belichick had no confidence in Brady.

It's confirmed. Edwards will be a bust.

Re: OT: Braylon Edwards to the Jets for 2 players, third, fifth

I'd rather see the Jets get Edwards than Brandon Marshall, even if he is a meathead.

Re: OT- Braylon Edwards to the Jets...

I have a feeling Mangini WANTS to get fired. This just makes no sense to Brown. I know Edwards is a headcase but how can you expect to win any game when you trade away your best pass catching TE and now best WR?
Just like those dopey Patriots benched their best ProBowl WR and ProBowl QB in 2001?

If Ben Watson's dropped catches pissed you off at all during the past season, magnify that by 5 times. That's a Braylon Edwards.
