Expecting a lot of Blitzing from the Pats 4-3 tonight?

I'm expecting our standard 3-4 tonight for the reason you gave and so the Jets don't see anything new. The "new" defense, so to speak, I expect to see more of in 6 days.

Although it's a little disadvantage to the rest of our players having to play on the road after MNF, one advantage is our guys will already be breaking down film on the new Jets whereas they won't see our new stuff (new OC and changed defense) until tonight - or maybe not until next week.

I was just about to bring this stat up.

There's no guaranty that the Pats will run one or the other exclusively.

I think with a line as weak as the Bills the 4-3 might be a time for 'good testing' on the success of it,Its something we have not seen much of before - Regardless of whether its 4-3 or not,I still expect a lot of pressure on Edwards instead of letting him find time to find Evans or Owens open deep.

The only problem with focusing on the QB is that Fred Jackson could find a way to get a lot of yards from a short pass out of the backfield should Edwards see no time to throw.

I would actually expect a little less blitzing than usual, as the offensive line is so porous for the Bills (at least it is expected to be) that it may not be necessary. They may be able to just let Big Vince and Warren whip the line up front along with Burgess, Green, Wright, Banta-Cain and whoever else figures into the pressure packages.

Actually the bills are 1-8 in the last 9 games vs 3-4 defences and even in preseason had a horrible time vs greenbay 3-4.

Not sure we will see 4-3 that much

I don't see us using much 4-3 tonight. Firstly Marshawn Lynch is out, and TO is playing so I expect the Bills to pass more often ergo I expect to see 3-4 with a lot of Nickel packages.

Who are the starters now? Is it Warren, Wilfork and Burgess is a 3-4 or does Pryor come into it? I really like what I've seen of him.

Same old boring, bend but don't break, occasional 3rd down blitz. A lot of cover 2 so the Safeties can protect the CBs against Owens and Evans. Basically keep evrything in front of you untl Edwards throws a pick.

I think we definitely go to a lot of nickel packages and zone coverage in the backfield.

I hope BB is reminding the team of the Bills vs. Cowboys season opener in '07 when the Bills nearly pulled off a giant upset.

EDIT: At the same time, I know Brady will be very fired up to be back in the spotlight.. so probably should not worry about motivation on the Pats part.

Regardless of whether we play 3-4 or 4-3, I don't expect the Bills to be able to run terribly effectively against our DL, especially with Marshawn Lynch out. If we get up by more than 10 points and the Bills have to play predominantly a passing game, I wouldn't be surprised to see a fair amount of blitzing and aggressive play calling.

I expect the Pats to stay base until Buffalo gets inside our red zone, then we may blitz a down or two.

no OL there starting RB will not be playing the first 4 games young QB

but i dont think it will be that E.Z of a win i can see the bill playing a west cost type of O short passis hold the ball a long time

but the pats will hold them to FG the bills will have like 4 FG and one or two TD

i see the pats wining 35 to 26

I expect to see nickel packages +40% of the time. The Buffalo recievers vs. New England defensive backs will be the match-up of the game. I expect Buffalo to test the Patriots defensive backfield early and often. With Lynch out and a totally rebuilt offensive line, the best bet for Buffalo is to run the hurry up out of 3-4 reciever sets and hope to confuse the Pats defensive backs.
