We've all studied BB over the past decade. We know his approach. Mild mannered, cerebral, succinct. He'll go off, no doubt about it. But the rah rah cheerleading approach is not his style.
We've all watched the BB NFL documentary. We saw BB give several "do your job" type speeches. Speeches that reinforce personal responsibility. He'll show a clip where a team disrespects his team. Lets the video do the talking.
Just curious if anyone felt that these team addresses were motivating. Did anyone get the sense that those in the auditorium were getting all fired up...amped? Sure, these speeches usually come day/days before the game and what good is reving up the team days before the game. Do you think BB takes a different approach right before game time? Before that D walks out on the field, prodding his LBs to rip someone's head off. Telling his safeties to bury a WR into the ground. Or does BB maintain the "do your job" mantra?
My point....This is BB's defense. 1) He assembled it, 2) he schemes it, and 3)ultimately its his job to get these guys in a frame of mind that leads to success. Maybe it is just hard to get emotionally charged up in a react type defense. When a proactive D, a D on the attack, succeeds...I see a team that believes in itself. This "thing" that we watch on Sundays....this "keep the play in front of us" soft D, how can confidence be built up using such a scheme. Teams are rolling down the field at will now, so why not take some chances. This D needs a fire lit under their butts. Have a game where "do your job " gets replaced by "rip their head off"
(Personally, I'd hire the Slim Jim wrestler, Randy Savage and put him on the sidelines with a case a Red Bull at his side)
