    Re: What if....?

An interesting exercise, but how can Tom Brady have 2 Ints and Manning have none if this is based on this year's play?

Looks like Brackett took June's place as TB's favorite receiver :D

    Re: What if....?

I like how Tommy has waited for this game to have 50% of his interceptions in 9 games (and of course, to throw a season-low 2 TDs.)

    Drek.

I think this game might indeed be a toss-up, ever the pessimist, when I use my brain and repeat the mantras like "remember, the Colts are undefeated... remember, these are the super bowl champs..." etc.

Secretly, I am all giddy and expecting the big "OH OHHHHHHH," when the Pats win handily.

But I would under no circumstances -- including the circumstance of being an Indy fan -- give the edge to Indy.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Brady gets picked off once or twice this Sunday. I still don't think it would lead to a Colts victory. I also expect Petyon to get at least a pick this Sunday as well. I believe both defences will get a score.

    Re: What if....?

Okay, wait a minute. Are you suggesting that TB can't throw 2 ints in a game this season? Are you suggesting nobody can force NE to make a mistake? Or are you suggesting nobody can make it happen, if it happens then it's just NE and/or TB's bad? Which is it?

    Re: What if....?

I believe what he is saying (and I apologize if this is an incorrect interpretation) is that it is foolish to assume that Brady will throw those two INTs, let alone anticipate them. So, neither, ya prick.

Brady has 2 Ints and 30 TD's YTD. If we are to assume he gives 2 picks should we not assume he gets 180 points (30 TD's) as well?

My biggest issue: the big plays.

Lets take a look at the Big Play Index, courtesy of Cold, Hard, Football Facts:
    http://coldhardfootballfacts.com/Articles/2_1663_2007_Big_Play_Index.html

To date, the Pats have allowed 11 over 8 games averaging 1.375 per game. According to this, the Pats allow:
2 Rushing big plays (29 and 56 yards)
    2 INTS
2 Passing big plays (45 and 41 yards)
    1 FG (56 yards)

    That's a grand total of 7. I don't think so.

Does it say 52-7 if you plug in the Skins-Pats matchup?

Heheh, this is what I suspected. Sigh. NE is playing very well right now no doubt. We'll just have to see what the future holds.

If we tinker with that program a little can we see when Peyton's next date with Kenny Chesney is?

I would puke all over myself if we lost due to an OT field goal from Adam the traitor.

    Re: What if....?

Ditto. I ran 5 sims between the 2006 teams and the Patriots dominated in all of them. Average score of about 35-17. So it seems like something fun to do, but without a lot to back it up.

Accuscore is a system that is more interested in predicting what will happen for gambling purposes, whereas whatifsports is built more for hypothetical matchups and entertainment value. Accuscore has the Patriots winning 62% of their sims in Indy (would be 77% in NE) and winning by an average score of 31-27. In running simulations between this year's teams and last year's teams, they clearly rank the teams as such:

    '07 Patriots
    '07 Colts
    '06 Colts
    '06 Patriots
